🎉 Burning Boat Festival” on New Year’s Eve 🎉

Running from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m at the Des Moines Marina Pier North Parking Lot, this family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration will serve as a fundraiser to support City of Des Moines Pa

rks and Recreation Youth Scholarships. Guests can look forward to:

Fire pits
S’mores and hot cocoa
Festive activities for all ages
Beer, Wine & Champagne

A central feature of the evening will be the ceremonial burning of a wooden boat—built by students at Maritime High School using untreated, environmentally safe materials. Attendees will be invited to write down a wish, intention, or something they wish to release from the past year. These notes will be placed into the boat, which will be set ablaze at 8PM to symbolically welcome the new year with hope, healing, and renewal. Organizers are implementing all necessary safety measures to ensure a safe, fun, and memorable experience for everyone. Space is limited, and tickets are expected to go quickly—secure yours soon and be part of this unique and meaningful community tradition.

We want to express our gratitude to all of you who volunteered, donated, and enjoyed the event. The Des Moines community really stepped up to support children experiencing homelessness in the Highline School District. We donated over $17,000 to help these kids.
