December 2003 – God gave Shelia Hoffman a vision to help underserved children by collecting toys from her Clients in her Hair Salon and donating them to the local churches for their "Toys for Joy," giveaway. She continued collecting and giving this way for approximately 3 years. December 2007 – December 2007 - God open Shelia Hoffman eyes to the great sadness that many families face during the
Christmas season. She realized it was time to step out on faith and help make the dreams come true for two special underserved families by getting them what their hearts desired for Christmas. She understood and could relate to them not being able to purchase the items. Because she was a single mother of 2 sons and experienced the same type of challenges while raising her children. She had overcame a lot of tough times and she desired to give back as much as she could therefore with the tremendous help and hearts of her faithful clients, she have been doing just that every since. This was the seed for forming The Gift of Love and our Christmas Blessing Program. November 2009 – From that small seed, an up-and-coming tree has grown! We received our Illinois letter of Incorporation and tax exempt statues 501(c)(3) from the Federal Government and have expanded to a wide variety of human services to benefit communities locally and nationwide! God bless us to open an office in Dermott, Arkansas. By opening this location The Gift of Love reaching out to "Empower people by meeting their social and economic needs by helping them with everyday challenges," in Arkansas. This office is under the leadership of our Vice President Marvin J, Jones. September 2015 – We officially received our certification as an Illinois nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization authorize to do business in the State of Arkansas under the fictitious name "The Gift of Love Gives. " This office is under the leadership of our Vice President Marvin J, Jones. Additionally, we are schedule to open 2 at risk after-school feeding sites locations Wilmot and Dermott in October, 2015
