Five years have passed. Their names have not. 🇺🇸

On August 26, 2021, thirteen American service members stood watch at Abbey Gate in Kabul, Afghanistan.

They were helping others reach safety.
They never came home.

Eleven Marines. One Soldier. One Navy Corpsman.

They were warriors and teammates. Sons and daughters. Brothers and sisters. Friends whose empty chairs are still felt by the people who loved them.

Today, we do something simple but important.

We say their names.

At Taps for Veterans, we know there are moments when words are simply not enough.

That is why we have Taps.

Twenty-four notes cannot tell the whole story of a life. They cannot measure courage, restore what was lost, or take away a family’s grief.

But they can carry a promise:

You served.
You sacrificed.
You are remembered.

Today, may those 24 notes rise for the Abbey Gate Fallen. For the thirteen. For their families.

For their brothers and sisters who still carry their memory.
