IMPORTANT: 2027 Livestock Validation Information

We are sharing important updates regarding the 2027 LSU AgCenter State Livestock Show validation process. Please read carefully, as there are several key changes and requirements this year.

Key Updates:

- An LSU AgCenter Agent or FFA Advisor must be present when animals are tagged and DNA samples are collected.

- Tags and DNA envelopes will not be distributed for at-home use without an agent or FFA Advisor present.

- Commercial heifers will return to visual classification at the show.
Brahman-influence steers will still require a blood DNA test.

- DNA/hair samples must be collected by the exhibitor or parent under the supervision of an LSU AgCenter Agent or FFA Advisor.

- Animals validated for the 2026 State Fair may keep their tag, but new DNA samples are still required.

With these updates to the validation process, Mrs. Maddy is available for home visits to assist with completion. Please contact her at [email protected] to schedule a time that works best for you. There will also be opportunities to complete validations during the week of the Beauregard Parish Fair.
