In the words of Novice Sister Pene Pasta Cachiatoria…

A Heartfelt Thank You, Denver!

First, I want to thank The Denver House of Perpetual Joy for creating a welcoming and inclusive space that has truly changed my life. ✨

While planning my novice project here in Denver, I was guided by my mentor, Sister CasKara. Her organization skills and vision are exceptional. Though she is younger than me, I deeply admire her experience and leadership. I’m still learning from her every day. Honestly, this event would not have been possible without her constant support, or without the help and solidarity of my Denver House siblings. The number of volunteers who showed up was incredible. I am profoundly grateful to each and every one of you. ✨

The day of the event was physically challenging for me. I wasn’t feeling well and the effort took a lot out of me, but thanks to everyone’s hard work and support, we completed it successfully right here in our city. ✨

Special thanks to our Denver Community Partners:

- Charlie's Nightclub Denver and Ed, the general manager, for giving us the space.
- The Denver House of Perpetual Joy for your love, participation, and for helping us set up and break down everything.
- Eli and Heather from Parasol Patrol for keeping us safe while the Sisters walked up and down E Colfax Ave serving our unhoused neighbors.
- Park Hill United Methodist Church for donating 100 sack lunches with fruit, vegetables, and water.
- Mae d'Misteak & Ima Bakkup from the Glitter Goddesses dba DCS for your generous donations.
- Brigid for volunteering your donations.
- Phyllis Rogers from Majestic Hearts for the huge donation of clothing and shoes. We were able to give out so much across Denver, and the excess was donated to another local charity.
- Faelight Foundation for sending volunteers to help.
- The Denver Four Corners Empire for providing pizza for lunch for the volunteers.
- Purple Mountain Recovery of Colorado Springs for bringing vital resources to the Denver community.
- Juan Carlos and Padded Pup Baymax for volunteering your time here in Denver.
- I Support the Girls - Denver for donating feminine hygiene products. Your work is essential to Denver, and we support you.

If you contributed or donated and I didn’t mention you by name, please accept my heartfelt thanks. Every single contribution made a difference for Denver. ✨

An important reflection for our city:
This project taught me to see our unhoused community in Denver through new eyes. Many face complex mental health challenges and trauma. We need to treat our brothers and sisters on Denver’s streets with more compassion. So many of us are one paycheck away from losing our housing. It’s a reality that grows harsher every day in our city. We have to take care of each other and step up for Denver. ✨

With Denver’s summer heat approaching, keeping people hydrated is urgent. I also encourage you to carry water, electrolytes, and fresh fruit. Hand them out at stoplights and street corners when it’s safe. Think about it: how would you feel dehydrated, thirsty, and having no one reach out on Colfax? I’ve been there. It’s time to continue this work and spread joy across Denver. ✨

I have never been prouder to belong to my House, The Denver House of Perpetual Joy. Thank you, Denver, for reminding me why we do this. ✨

DOUGLAS COUNTY PRIDEFEST 🏳️‍🌈

Before the rain started pouring down onto us at Douglas County Pride at Salisbury Equestrian Park, Postulant Sister Pinkamina and Sister CasKara were able to get a photo with Pasha from Parasol Patrol! It was so good to see her make an appearance! We love and miss her! ✨

Nungrats to Brook Burnstein, President of Douglas County Pride for your hard work in planning the event.
