Meet SPARK, one of three quality improvement initiatives available for CPCQC’s 2027 Open Enrollment.

What SPARK focuses on:
• Strengthening discharge education and warning-sign recognition
• Improving follow-up care during the critical postpartum window
• Connecting patients to ongoing support to prevent unrecognized complications after leaving the hospital

Under CO Senate Bill 24-175, all birthing hospitals participate annually in at least one CPCQC initiative. Submit your hospital’s interest form by October 15!

Meet SOAR, one of three quality improvement initiatives available for CPCQC’s 2027 Open Enrollment.

What SOAR focuses on:
• Implementing evidence-based labor support
• Standardizing clinical practices to safely lower unnecessary primary (first-time) cesarean deliveries
• Improving outcomes and experience for birthing patients across Colorado

Last week, CPCQC was proud to present at the Strengthening Colorado Families & Communities Conference in Keystone, CO!

🌊 Turning the Tide Doesn’t End at Discharge highlighted how outpatient behavioral health and community partners can ride the wave of the work started during a patient’s L&D stay to reinforce trust, connection, and support beyond the hospital.

🛏️ Safe Sleep & Perinatal SUD explored how we can provide evidence-based safe sleep guidance while recognizing the complex realities every family brings with them, including substance use disorder.
Across both conversations, one message stood out: how we communicate and connect matters.

💜 Every discharge is an opportunity to save a life. 

Today, on International Overdose Awareness Day, we honor those we’ve lost to overdose, support families impacted by substance use, and reaffirm our commitment to proactive, compassionate healthcare. 

As part of CPCQC’s Turning the Tide initiative, we know that overdose risk reduction is a vital component of safe transitions home for birthing people and their families. Just as we prepare families for car seat safety and safe sleep practices, normalizing conversations around Narcan and offering harm reduction tools before discharge can save lives.

What a powerful day of connection and learning at the 2026 Mind, Body, Baby Summit hosted by the Larimer County Perinatal Well-Being Coalition!

A major highlight of the day was hearing from our very own CPCQC CEO, Rebecca Alderfer, MPP, who delivered the keynote presentation: “Better Together: From Shared Purpose to Statewide Progress.”
Thank you to the Larimer County Department of Health and Environment and the Coalition for hosting such a vital event to advance perinatal health across Colorado.
