Happy Anniversary to the VFW Auxiliary! 🎂

September 27 in 1914, a national movement began. But for us here at John S. Stewart, VFW Auxiliary to Post # 1 of Denver, Colorado, it's a day to celebrate the local impact of this incredible organization.

The hot meals served, the care packages sent, the voices raised for veteran rights—it all stems from the commitment of Auxiliary members right here in our community, continuing the work started 111 years ago.

Thank you to all our members, past and present, for your dedication. You are the heart of this organization!

P.S. We're always looking for new members to help us carry the torch! If you have a relative who served in a foreign war or conflict, you may be eligible. Message us for info!

Today, we observe National POW/MIA Recognition Day. We pause to honor the courage and sacrifice of the American prisoners of war and those who are still missing in action.

We remember the families who endure the unimaginable pain of not knowing, and we reaffirm our nation’s unwavering commitment to achieving the fullest possible accounting for our missing heroes.

Their service and sacrifice will never be forgotten. We hold a place for them, always.

Today we observe Patriot Day, a day of remembrance for the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We honor the memory of the innocent victims, the incredible courage of the first responders who ran toward danger, and the resilience of a nation that stood together in the face of tragedy.

We will never forget. 🕯️

22 veterans are 22 too many.

This number isn't just a statistic. It represents 22 heroes, 22 families shattered, and 22 futures lost. The battle doesn't always end when they come home.

We have a duty to support those who have served. It starts with breaking the stigma around mental health and reminding our veterans that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it:
✅ Check in on the veteran in your life. A simple text or call can make all the difference.
✅ Listen without judgment. You don't need to have the answers, just an open heart.
✅ Share this post. You never know who needs to see this message.

Thank you to everyone for participating in our democracy. Your voice was heard!

Coloradans who took part in our online survey have voted not to proceed with the Colorado 150 Pedestrian Walkway to celebrate our 150th anniversary as a state. Thank you to everyone who shared their opinions and voted. I will commit my time and effort to prevent this walkway from being built, even if I have to chain myself to the Capitol Plaza to stop it!

Over 80,000 people participated in just five days!
