CPHA Member Benefit: Grow Your Network

Make genuine connections and engage with a membership base of over 1,300 other public health professionals. We believe in the power of people, which is why we prioritize authentic networking. By creating a space where community members, from all backgrounds can meet, chat, network, and build relationships, we believe each individual can grow exponentially.

Meet our Board of Directors!

This April, we're spotlighting At-Large Member, Christo Luna. See our interview with Christo below:

Where do you currently work or study and what is your role? I currently serve as the Deputy State Director for Mi Familia Vota / Mi Familia en Acción in Colorado. Our work focuses on civic engagement, voter education, and advancing issues critical to our communities, including health equity and environmental justice. At the core of my work is a deep commitment to community empowerment and ensuring people have the tools, resources, and opportunities to advocate for themselves and their families.

What initially drew you to public health, and how has that passion evolved? What initially drew me to public health is that almost anything can be public health. My experiences working across government, healthcare, and nonprofit spaces have expanded both my understanding and appreciation of the field. Public health sits at the intersection of policy, systems, and lived experience. I’m especially passionate about giving back to my community and helping create pathways so others can access the same opportunities I’ve been fortunate to have. That passion continues to grow as I learn, which is why I chose to pursue a Doctorate of Public Health, to deepen my impact and contribute to more equitable systems.

What is your favorite cuisine? I’m a huge foodie and love trying new places and cuisines. Being from New Mexico, I’ll always have a soft spot for hot green chile enchiladas with an egg on top. I’m also a big fan of Italian food; honestly, you can’t go wrong!

What are you most passionate about outside of work? Outside of work, I’m passionate about staying healthy, staying curious, and staying connected to my community. I love working out, hiking, skiing, going to shows, visiting museums, and spending quality time with my family. I’m also a lifelong learner and am almost always involved in fellowships, trainings, or school. I try to constantly learn, give back, and grow in ways that allow me to show up more fully for the communities I care about and serve.
