A few days surrounded by pediatricians, conversations about meningococcal meningitis prevention, and one important reminder: the right recommendation at the right time can save a life. 🩺

We just wrapped an incredible few days exhibiting at the American Academy of Pediatrics National Conference in San Diego, where we had the opportunity to share educational resources, connect with providers, and talk about protecting adolescents and young adults from meningococcal meningitis.

We’re grateful to every provider who stopped by, asked questions, picked up resources, and joined the conversation about prevention. 💙

We were incredibly proud to bring our mission, our advocates, and the families we represent into this important conversation bridging access and innovation at the Milken Institute. It was a true honor for our Co-Executive Director, Patti Wukovits, to take part in this important dialogue on a day dedicated to raising awareness about meningococcal meningitis.

What a powerful way to spend World Meningitis Day 💜 This group photo with is to raise awareness of meningococcal meningitis prevention and honors the lives and futures impacted to this devastating disease.

Today, I had the honor of representing my other organization, the American Society for Meningitis Prevention at the Milken Institute Patient Advocacy Forum in Washington DC, alongside more than 100 organizations working to shape the future of healthcare.

The conversations centered on something I care deeply about: making sure lived experience doesn’t just inform change but helps drive it. Moving from innovation to access. From conversation to action. And ultimately, toward better outcomes for patients and families.

On a day dedicated to raising awareness about meningococcal meningitis, I was incredibly proud to bring our mission, our advocates, and the families we represent into that room.

Love you forever Kim 💜

This , we were SO proud to see our advocates and supporters join the campaign from coast to coast.

From students in New York to police officers in California, we were humbled to see so many chairs bringing attention to meningococcal meningitis and how it can be prevented with across communities nationwide.

And while World Meningitis Day may be coming to an end, educating and advocating against this horrific disease has no end.

Today, we got one step closer to achieving a world without meningococcal meningitis, and we couldn't have done it without YOU!

Kendall didn’t know the warning signs of bacterial meningitis until meningitis took her brother. 💔

If you know a teen or college student, please share this with them so they know to ask their healthcare provider about protection against all five types of meningococcal bacteria: A, B, C, W, and Y.

This empty chair is for Emily. 💜

There couldn’t be a more fitting chair for Emily's Dash Foundation to share as part of this year’s campaign.

Emily’s classmates at Villa Maria Academy painted this desk chair in her memory and gave it to her family as a lasting tribute. They signed their names inside the hearts, surrounding Emily’s memory with the love of the classmates who knew her.

The Emily’s Dash Foundation was established in memory of Emily Grace Koenig, who passed away suddenly from bacterial meningitis at just 12 years old.

This , they are sharing Emily’s chair to honor her memory and the many lives lost or forever changed by meningococcal meningitis.

Emily’s Dash Foundation is participating in the campaign this to honor those whose lives have been lost or forever changed by
meningococcal meningitis.

This empty chair represents a loved one who should still be here, our beautiful daughter, Emily Grace Koenig, who suddenly lost her life to bacterial meningitis at the young age of 12.

Emily’s classmates at Villa Maria Academy painted her desk chair & gave this to us in memory of her. They signed all of their names in the hearts. Her teacher at the time was Mr. Miller.

I’ve joined American Society for Meningitis Prevention’s (ASMP’s) campaign to share Emily’s story so that others understand the importance of prevention through vaccination. There was no vaccine available to the public when Emily died. Meningococcal meningitis moves quickly and unpredictably and the symptoms mimic the flu.

Please help me ensure that other families do not experience a similar
loss by sharing this post to your feed or learning more at
meningitisprevention.org/wmd.

Visit to learn more about why vaccination against
all five meningococcal serogroups (A, B, C, W, Y) is the most
powerful way to prevent it.
