Our Mission
To rescue homeless, abused and neglected animals with the emphasis on the rescue of dogs and cats and other companion animals; to provide food, shelter and veterinary care to such animals; to find loving homes for each rescued animal and lifetime care for unadoptable animals; to provide education to the public on responsible pet ownership , including the need to vaccinate, and spay or
neuter companion animals, and increasing access to such services through the hosting of low-cost spay and neuter (and vaccination) clinics. We Matter 2 Pet Rescue is located in the Swansea neighborhood of Denver, an area that is primarily Spanish speaking and home to many people with different cultural attitudes about pet care. As a bilingual Spanish speaking, community-based organization, We Matter 2 Pet Rescue has been effective in providing education about responsible pet care and ownership to the community. Because of language and cultural barriers it has been difficult to provide information to community members about appropriate animal care, including the need for the spaying and neutering of companion animals, the need for vaccinations, as well as the importance of keeping pets safely confined. The organization’s founder is a community member who understands its cultural norms and can speak credibly about the changes that need to occur with respect to companion animal care. As an example of the success of this work, over 300 animals (both dogs and cats) have been spayed or neutered in the community through low cost spay and neuter clinics organized by WM2 over the last 3 yrs. We have also rescued and found safe, loving homes for hundreds of other animals. There is no other pet rescue organization in the City of Denver that specifically targets the Spanish speaking community on animal welfare issues. In order for We Matter 2 Pet Rescue to continue this unique and very important work in the community it must increase its funding base. THANK YOU!
