Last month we hosted a workshop at one of our program days, where we ran our youth through six stations that supported them in each of these steps. By the end of the workshop, the had a checklist of what they needed, a new resume and cover letter, an account to a job site, practice with their interviewing skills with a scored interview and further steps to best prepare for the workspace.

We had a student who was having some amplified behavior issue in class. Distracting other students, disrupting the class overall, not engaging in work.
He unfortunately was met with immediate disciplinary action. Which we understand, BUT ensuring our students our getting the help they need should always be a top prority.
Once we sat with this student and started asking questions, it was clear, this student can’t read or write at their grade level. To be more specific they were in the 8th grade reading at 4th grade level. And they felt like asking for help would make them look stupid, so they just didn’t want to.
Literal words.
Sometimes all they need is someone SAFE, that will LISTEN to UNDERSTAND and SUPPORT 🙏🏾

Be a safe space for our youth, they need it❤️

Our Mission!

Here at “The Lounge” our mission is to provide a home away from home! A place where adolescents, ages 7-20 years-old; can come relax, do their homework, play sports or even take a nap! Everyone is welcome! This building has much to offer as we have many programs that assist these adolescents and the families behind them! Ranging from assigned mentors to financial stability assistance. This building’s main focus is rehabilitation in any way. We are here for you and to help these families in any way they need it. In a sense this business can be compared to a YMCA or Boy’s and Girl’s club except this company is motivated to help each family reach their own personal success. This can mean being financially free or even making sure their child is set up for their life after high school. Here at The Lounge we will be able to assist these families and guarantee their pursued successes. Although it may feels like society doesn’t care, we DO and we WILL go to every extent to make sure our members feel our care!
