Founded in January 2018, the Lao Elephant Initiative (LEI) is a State and Federal tax-exempt publicly supported 501(c)(3) charitable organization, headquartered in CO, USA. Recognized as a State and Federal tax-exempt, publicly supported 501(c)(3) charitable organization, LEI maintains an office in Denver, CO, and currently supports elephant conservation projects in the Lao People’s Democratic Rep

ublic. LEI is igniting positive change for wild and captive Asian elephants by:
1) Raising public awareness about the plight of elephants in Laos and working to build a new common understanding of what constitutes their ethical and humane treatment;
and,
2) Supporting work to increase the population of wild elephants in Laos; diversify the genetic pool; re-introduce captive elephants, as possible; and ramp up wildlife protection efforts in a viable NBCA.
