Please join us on April 14 at 6:30 for our annual Yom Hashoah commemoration at HEA. This year we are focusing on the Future of Holocaust Education. Along with the music of the Colorado Hebrew Chorale, the annual lighting ceremony and a special interview with survivor, Osi Sladek, and we welcome another special guest, Kelley Szany from the Illinois Holocaust Museum.
Kelley will talk how IHMEC is transforming history from a passive lesson into a personal encounter, connecting thousands around the world using modern technology.

Join us at the 30th Denver Jewish Film Festival on Sunday, January 25 for the 23rd Annual Fred & Audrey Friedman Marcus Holocaust Lecture!

Award-winning filmmaker Oren Rudavsky’s acclaimed documentary ELIE WIESEL: SOUL ON FIRE explores the life and legacy of Holocaust survivor, writer, teacher, public figure and Nobel Peace Prize winner Elie Wiesel, creating a crucial testament to an extraordinary man who helped shape our memory of the darkest chapter of the 20th century. Following the film, director Oren Rudavsky will be joined on stage by Colorado State Senator Dafna Michaelson Jenet for a conversation about the film and audience Q&A.

The annual Marcus Lecture highlights new scholarship and perspectives on the Holocaust and illuminates its continuing significance today.

Some wrongs can never be made right. But when we have a chance to correct a historic injustice – even for just one person or one family – it can mean so much.

Today, Consul General Christofer Burger hosted a small reception for our four newest German citizens in Florida – daughters and granddaughters of Jewish German nationals from Cologne, Frankfurt and Bielefeld, who had fled from the Holocaust and had been collectively stripped of their German citizenship by the N**i regime in 1941.

The fact that today, their descendants chose to receive their German citizenship and restore their families ties to Germany is a humbling expression of trust in the democratic Germany we have built over the last 80 years. We were touched and inspired to hear their families’ stories.
