Rocky Mountain Scottie Rescue

We are a volunteer-based tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Denver. We rescue, rehab, & re-home Scotties in the Rocky Mountain Region.

Rocky Mountain Scottie Rescue, Inc. rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes Scottish Terriers in the Rocky Mountain Region. RMSR is a volunteer-based tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in the Denver metro area of Colorado. Most of the dogs in our program have been relinquished by their owners for many reasons which may include: a new baby, illness or death, job relocation, economic hardship, dog behavior or the Scottie does not fit their lifestyle, and divorce. Occasionally a dog may be transferred to us from regional animal shelters. The average age of a rescued Scottie with RMSR is 6.8 years of age. These adult dogs make terrific companion animals. We would love to adopt out young Scotties, however, the reality is the RMSR rarely sees very young dogs in its program. All Scotties entering the Rescue Program receive full medical checkups from a licensed veterinarian, are always spayed or neutered, are micro-chipped, and vaccinations updated as required. In those cases
where more extensive veterinary care is indicated, the Scotties receive whatever care is deemed necessary for treatable conditions. Our cost to care for a rescued Scottie averages more than $740. Each Scottie is placed in their own dedicated and caring volunteer foster home. This allows them to feel loved and secure while being evaluated for behavior and temperament. Foster care-givers are at the core of our program. Their assessment of and experience with the dogs in their care help make the transition of the rescued Scottie easier for both dog and adoption family. Our adoption fee is $400. We may waive a portion of this fee depending on the Scottie's age and health.

We weren’t speaking about weight or its loss, but if in case you or your Scottie were thinking or talking about it, here is a cartoon to fit your needs with a chuckle thrown in. Follow RMSR on Facebook.

Duncan reacts to thunder in much the same way as my Scottie. Not unusual just a Scottie being a Scottie another reason we love them so much. Follow Rocky Mountain Scottie Rescue on Facebook

Our Scottie dogs have many jobs in our homes, one of my friends shared this list of jobs with me. My feeling is, we all could add another job or two to this list. Rocky Mountain Scottie Rescue loves Scotties, follow us on Facebook.

I saw this suggestion on Pinterest, and think it may have some merit, which I write with a smile. Scottie dogs aren’t hard to train, if you agree with their way of thinking. We love Scottie dogs. Follow RMSR on Facebook

Scotties are so curious; I love to watch their ears perk up when they discover something that captures their interest. And when they find that something they jump backwards when it moves. That’s the fun of the hunt. Follow RMSR on Facebook.

I’m sure that Scottie dogs dream, and I’m pretty sure my Scottie dreams of soring in a hot air balloon. Whenever he sees and hears one floating over our house and yard, he barks an excited hello up there! Follow RMSR on Facebook. We love Scotties.

Wheaten Scottie dogs are not always recognized by the general public. However, we Scottie dog lovers know a Scottie when we see one. Two beautiful examples are pictured for us to admire. Follow RMSR on Facebook.

Scottie dogs love to go for walks, sometimes they are distracted. Ah strike that, they just have important smells that need to be tracked. Love our Scottie dogs! Follow RMSR on Facebook
