With the 2-year mark of Sophie’s passing approaching, I had an opportunity to do an act of kindness in her name. I recently switched over to Verizon for our family plan due to the need to add a business line to my phone.

From the moment I entered the Verizon store on May 1st, I got great service from Kevin. There were numerous issues that needed to be troubleshot and he smiled through all the issues because he knew his knowledge would ultimately prevail to get it done right, despite the obstacles and predicaments.

On my last visit to the store a few weeks, we got talking about adult beverages and come to find out Kevin likes a lot of things. So today I went into the store and surprised him with the bottle of Kahlua shown here. I told Kevin he deserved it because it is hard to get good customer service these days. As an aside, this particular store was Voted Agent of the Year. Cheers to Kevin! He said he was going to open the bottle after work.

Darlene has the best pay it forward stories ❤️

On this Thanksgiving Eve, I wanted to share another Sophie story. Hubby and I were at BJ’s Warehouse over the weekend picking up our 🦃 and other things for the holiday. The store was quite crowded, but moving into the lane to check out didn’t take too long. A very nice elderly lady behind me asked about the Panettone in my cart and I told her where she could find it on the end cap. She said no, I really do want one, but I don’t want to get out of line because I’ve already been to two stores today. We kept chatting about things and she said she lives with her son since her husband passed away 3 years ago and said she is 82 years old. Barbara casually mentioned that she needed help from a store employee with the big air fryer and case of water. Hubby and I both looked at each other and knew what we were going to do. I gave her the extra Panettone in our cart for her enjoyment and hubby helped her to her car and put the items she bought in her trunk. It felt very satisfying to do this little gesture in the scheme of life and I pulled out one of Sophie’s cards and briefly told her about her. The kind Italian lady kissed the card and said she would pray for her. It doesn’t get better than that. Living in Southern Delaware is good. The big thing that I have found here is that most of the people are very friendly and have no problem holding a conversation with you, whether it is a fellow customer or an employee. Hubby and I decided to go on an impromptu lunch the other day while out running errands. It brought us to a bayside Italian restaurant, Serendipity, where we had been for dinner once last year and wanted to try their expansive lunch menu. We walked in at 12:15 and there was no one in the restaurant. The whole time we were there were no other customers. The tourist season is over and they don’t get very busy, even though they are open 6 days a week. We had undivided attention from our very nice waitress, Stephanie, so we talked to her about pretty much everything. Come to find out that she is a single mom of a dear 3-year old boy and she lost her partner a few years in a car accident where he was the only one killed when he rear-ended a tractor. Her family takes good care of her and her son, but she is out there doing her best to make a great life for her dear son. Although I was already planning to give her a big tip due to no other customers, I realized that a 50% tip was warranted and I gave her Sophie’s card along with it. We have all life struggles and it’s important to show kindness in small ways when you can. The rest of the day hubby kept saying how glad he was that we did that for Stephanie. 🤗

This morning we met a stranded driver with dead battery needing a jump to get to his job site.

Soph’s Spirit was smiling down as us as we got him on his way and with a Forever 21 Soph card. I’m sure it made her day😇
