FREE after school program expanding access to high-quality, community responsive arts education for 5th–12th grade BIPOC youth in Southwest Denver, empowering them to connect with community, give back through the arts, and reclaim ancestral traditions. Mission: To increase the access to high-quality community responsive arts education for 5th-12th grade students living in historically underserved

neighborhoods in southwest Denver. Vision: A world where the arts are used as a tool to cultivate communities in which people view one another as extensions of themselves, so that we can all honor our collective humanity. In Lak’ech Denver Arts students will:

•Build their skills in drama, dance, music, and the visual arts
•Use the arts as a tool to broaden their social awareness
•Create cross-cultural connections
•Inspire themselves and others to become social advocates in their communities and beyond

Join In Lak’ech Denver Arts for our FREE 5th Annual Summer Arts Camp: Puppets in Westwood! 🎭✨

This summer, 5th–12th grade youth will work alongside local artists Metzli Aragon and Isaac Lucero to design and create puppets, props, and scenery using recycled and craft materials. Together, participants will bring cultural stories to life while celebrating the beautiful and diverse communities of Southwest Denver.

The camp concludes with a FREE community puppet performance on June 26! 🎉

We’re excited to share some special photos captured by one of our talented intermediate Youth Folklórico/Mariachi students, Lucia!

What a beautiful whirlwind this past weekend was! It filled with cultura, comida, arte, música, lowriders, danza, and comunidad at 2026 ❤️🇲🇽

In Lak’ech Denver Arts was honored to be a proud partner in this incredible celebration, and we extend our deepest gratitude to and , and everyone who helped make Cinco de Mayo en Westwood such a meaningful and successful event.

We are beyond proud of all our youth performers and artists who brought so much passion, talent, and heart to the celebration. We’re excited to share this recap highlighting their incredible contributions, especially the return of our youth mariachi performing live music for our youth folklórico dancers!

In Lak’ech Denver Arts is proud to partner with the 6th Annual Cinco de Mayo en Westwood community celebration THIS WEEKEND!

Join us on Saturday, May 2nd at 2:30 PM as our beginner and intermediate youth groups Mariachi Quetzal and In Lak’ech Folklórico take the main stage with some amazing performances! 💃🏽

Later in the evening, don’t miss our talented youth mariachi instructors performing with their group, Mariachi Los Mensajeros at 6:30 PM!

Be sure to check out a special papier-mâché luchador exhibit created by our incredible Visual Arts students.

We’ll also be hosting a FREE youth arts station where families can get creative together build your own 3D paper lowrider with Visual Arts Instructor Aalycia Mendez or color Westwood-themed designs by local Denver artist Isaac Lucero!
