✨ Alumni Spotlight | Fall 2025 Scholar Recipient ✨

Chanelle Jones Ahmed, a Fall 2025 World at Hand Scholar Recipient, studied abroad in Cuba on her first international trip; an experience that became a powerful moment of growth, reflection, and connection. Immersed in daily life, she lived with host families, shared meals, navigated new rhythms, and engaged with Cuban culture beyond the classroom. From dance circles to meaningful conversations, the experience taught her the importance of slowing down, being present, and embracing the unfamiliar.

This journey pushed Chanelle to step outside her comfort zone, strengthening her confidence, gratitude, and global perspective. It reinforced that some of the most impactful learning happens through community, curiosity, and lived experience.

Chanelle’s story reflects the mission of World at Hand: breaking down financial and systemic barriers so students can access transformative global learning opportunities. By investing in students, World at Hand helps open doors to possibility, confidence, and lifelong impact.

🌍 Impact Highlight: January–April 2025
As part of our Giving Season, every Friday, we are sharing highlights from our 2025 year of growth. From new grants to statewide partnerships, the first four months set the tone for a transformational year at World at Hand.

January
We received notification of our first larger grant funding from the Sir Cyril Taylor  Charitable Foundation through AIFS. This support helped launch a new chapter of growth and national recognition.

February
We hosted our first tabling events at the Auraria Campus and continued growing key relationships with CU Denver and the Denver Scholarship Foundation. This outreach created new direct student connections that continue to expand our reach across the Denver metro area.

March
We launched our first full-size GAP cohort in collaboration with our long-term partner Colorado UpLift. With 20 students participating, we increased overall GAP participation to date by more than 80%.

April
Our Founder received the International Educators Professional Development Grant from Gateway International Group, LLC. The funding from this award supported important program and partnership work throughout the summer months.

Thank you, Colorado!

We are so grateful to everyone who supported World at Hand on Colorado Gives Day. Whether you donated, shared a post, invited friends, signed up to volunteer, or joined our newsletter, you helped move our mission forward.
Because of you, we have raised 5,450 dollars toward our ten-thousand-dollar goal for our new Agency Advised Fund, bringing us closer to a future endowed scholarship for Colorado students. We are already more than halfway there, and we could not do this without you.

We still have work to do during the rest of Giving Season, and your continued support keeps us on track. Today, we invite you to ask five friends to participate so we can keep growing awareness, volunteer support, and long-term sustainability throughout December.

Colorado Gives Day Countdown: 4 Days Left! 🌟🌍

Today, we’re highlighting Andrea’s story as we count down to Colorado Gives Day.

Growing up in Athmar Park, Andrea never imagined studying abroad could be within reach. The cost felt impossible, and the dream stayed out of sight for years. But after her father passed, she gained a new perspective on life and the courage to pursue what once felt unattainable.

With support from her community and the Korea Goes Global program, Andrea traveled across South Korea and experienced moments that changed her forever. From sitting peacefully on a beach in Bonggil-ri with the sound of waves and a monk’s music, to waking up at 4 a.m. for Buddhist ceremonies at Haeinsa Temple, she found healing, connection, and a deeper sense of purpose.

Her journey shows why access to global learning matters. Experiences like Andrea’s open hearts, shape futures, and give students the chance to discover parts of themselves they never knew were possible.

It will ease financial stress and allow me to focus on my academic goals. In Barcelona, I’m most excited to visit El Mercat de la Boqueria, which is known for having the freshest meats and fruit!”
