Schools and Outdoor Learning Environments - SOLE

Schools and Outdoor Learning Environments - SOLE The Schools and Outdoor Learning Environments (SOLE) program has one simple mission: Connect kids an It is funded by Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO).

The Schools and Outdoor Learning Environments (SOLE) program started in 2013 as a pilot program through Colorado Parks and Wildlife. We have one simple mission:

Connect Kids to the Outdoors! In 2013, the pilot program began with fourth grade classes in two schools: Pennock Elementary (Brighton) and Roxborough Intermediate Schools (Littleton). In 2014, the program expanded to include the two pil

ot schools with an additional nine schools spanning the Denver Metro area…a total of 1,900 students. These schools range all across the spectrum of demographics and location of the Denver metro area. As a school participating in the SOLE program, funding provides each fourth grade student to:

- 3 field trips to various partner locations (1 will be to a state park)
- In-class presentations
- Family Nature Night

The program has now expanded to a total of 50 schools statewide for the 2021-2022 school year.
