My experience as Mrs. ANA 2022 by Shristi Upreti Sharma:
Participating in the inaugural edition of Mrs. ANA 2022, a beauty pageant specifically designed for married women, was an incredible opportunity. It provided a platform to showcase our talent, gain recognition, and celebrate the beauty and achievements of married women.
As the first participant to fill out the application, I displayed enthusiasm and eagerness from the beginning. With a month's time to prepare, I focused on various aspects to ensure I was ready for the competition. Given my interest in showcasing my talent in singing, I devoted time to refining my skill. I practiced and polished my performance to make a lasting impression on the audience and judges. As a participant in a beauty pageant, selecting the right wardrobe and styling is crucial. During this period, I also invested time in choosing appropriate outfits for each segment of the competition. I aimed to present myself confidently and reflect on my personal style.
In the weeks leading up to the main event, we had numerous rehearsals. These practice sessions allowed us to perfect our walk, gestures, and overall stage performance. Alongside fellow participants, I received mentorship from experienced individuals, who shared their insights and offered advice to help us excel. During the practice sessions, I was able to make lifelong connections with my fellow participants.
Finally, the day of the main event arrived. After weeks of preparation, we arrived at the venue, filled with excitement and anticipation. The event included various segments, such as an introduction, a talent showcase, and a question-and-answer session. We presented ourselves with grace, confidence, and a genuine reflection of our personality. I was more than honored and humbled to be crowned as Mrs. ANA 2022. Regardless of the outcome, participating in a beauty pageant is a remarkable achievement. It offers an opportunity for personal growth, self-discovery, and new experiences.
The confidence and recognition I gained from the pageant led to invitations to host various programs and events within the Nepali community. By accepting these opportunities, I not only expanded my personal network but also contributed to the cultural and social fabric of the community. My journey from being confined within my circle of family, friends, and work colleagues to becoming a prominent figure within the Nepali community in the DFW metroplex highlights the power of stepping out of your comfort zone and embracing new opportunities. Earlier I was a successful CPA excelling in my career with little social involvement, but post the event, I have been able to make a name for myself within the Nepali community. Currently, I also serve as the Chair of Marketing and Communication for Lions Club – Irving Everest Centennial. I have also started my own not-for-profit organization, the Leon Reign Foundation, with a focus on helping impoverished children and feeding the hungry.
