No ARES Training Net this evening. As we approach this weekend, please remember those that gave the ultimate sacrifice so that we can have the freedom that few experience in this world. All gave some, and some gave all.

Statewide EAS/iPAWS test today.
04/02/2026

Statewide EAS/iPAWS test today.

This is your friendly reminder about the statewide test of the Emergency Alert System occurring TODAY from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Alerts will be sent through your phone (much like an Amber alert), and broadcast over the TV and radio stations. You may also hear outdoor warning sirens.

With multiple alerts possible during the statewide test, it could be mildly (or very) annoying for a short time.

But here’s the important part 👇
🚫 Please don’t turn off emergency alerts on your phone.

These alerts are critical for:
🌪️ Severe weather warnings
🚨 Public safety threats
👮 AMBER alerts and more

When something serious happens, this is one of the fastest ways you can be reached.

So, please, hang in there during the test! It helps ensure these systems work when they are truly needed.

And just to confirm one more time…
👉 This is only a TEST. No action on your part is required.

A statewide EAS Test is scheduled for Thursday, April 2nd.

NEWS: ‘Taking this can save your life’: National Weather Service Fort Worth holds Denton County Severe Weather Education course

Storm spotters, amateur radio operators, storm chasers, first responders and other individuals attended the National Weather Service Fort Worth and SKYWARN training hosted at Texas Woman’s University.

Henry Tucker, a volunteer firefighter in Justin, Texas, and medical captain of Denton County’s Community Emergency Response Team, said he became a storm spotter not only for his own safety, but for the safety of others. He added the difference in education, like the NWS course, can create a massive difference in a severe weather situation.

“People freak out when there are storms, but taking this course can save your life,” Tucker said.
