MCF partners with the Prince George’s County Health Department to support families of children and youth up to age 21 who are experiencing mental health challenges. Families can receive individualized, one-on-one family peer support, available in person, virtually, by phone, text, or email.

We also provide peer support directly to young adults themselves, helping them navigate their own mental health journeys with guidance from those who’ve been there.

Our goal is to improve mental health outcomes for children, youth, and young adults who may be at risk of entering the child welfare or juvenile justice systems. We’re here to help families and young people navigate complex systems and connect with the care
and support they need.

The referral form is available here:

Maryland families deserve to be heard.

As we prepare for the upcoming Maryland General Assembly session, we have an opportunity to bring family voices directly to lawmakers and policymakers, and we want to make sure we’re representing the experiences, needs, and priorities of Maryland families.

Your perspective can help us advocate for meaningful behavioral health supports and services for children and families across our state.

Share your voice with us! Take a few minutes to complete this brief survey and help us make sure Maryland families are represented in the conversations that shape behavioral health policy.

As the new school year approaches, many children—and caregivers—are facing big transitions. Whether your child is starting kindergarten, middle school, or high school, these changes come with new routines, environments, and expectations.

Here’s what experts like Child Mind Institute recommend:

-Kindergarteners benefit from gentle independence like handling snacks or restroom use

-Middle schoolers navigate a new rhythm with changing classes and social challenges

-High schoolers benefit from help with time management and emotional navigation

No matter their age, every child needs one essential tool: enough sleep to face change with strength.

You’re not in this alone. At Maryland Coalition of Families, we walk with you beside every child’s big transition. Connect with a Family Peer Support Specialist at mdcoalition.org for more support.
