Night OUT returns!

Wear your pride gear and visit the businesses and organizations that support PRIDENTON!

Local businesses and organizations show their support and Pride for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community by participating in a “reverse Pride parade” where vendors and storefronts are the “floats”. Visit them! Snag swag, shop, eat, drink, and get to know some of the people who make this community so special.

A jury of community members will pick the “Best Float” and winners will be announced on our social media.

We encourage you to bring picnic blankets and lawn chairs to lounge in Quakertown Park directly adjacent to the Civic Center!

In addition to our set up at the Quakertown Civic Center, we’re expanding to The Bearded Monk to accommodate all the vendors and guests!

WHAT TO EXPECT
▪️All ages welcome
▪️Amplified music
▪️Free parking available in the parking lot adjacent to the Civic Center
▪️The Civic Center has gendered, multi-stall restrooms which will be converted to all-use for the duration of the event
▪️A wheelchair accessible ramp is located on the southwest side of the Civic Center
▪️Seating: There are picnic tables outside on the covered pavilion
▪️Large crowd is expected—there’s potential for sensory saturation
▪️While this event is partially air conditioned indoors, there is still risk of heat exhaustion or heat stroke
▪️Risk of a potential protest: Please don’t engage with agitators. Notify a volunteer if support is needed.

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS!

We have a packed calendar this June, and we need your help to make sure our events go as smoothly as possible.

Fill out our Volunteer Interest Form at pridenton.org/volunteer to make sure you receive the calendar invite to the mandatory virtual volunteer orientation on:
Saturday, May 30 at 12 PM.

If you can’t make it on that date, we will have a recording of the training.

Due to the nature of the event and with limited spots, the sign-up form will be available closer to the event date.

Join Texas Equal Access Fund, UNT Eagle Engagement Center, and PRIDENTON for our annual community sidewalk chalking event for the whole family to celebrate Pride! We’ll start at 8 am and chalk on the sidewalk around the Denton Courthouse Square. Meet us on the Hickory St. side to grab the chalk, and connect with us.

Local band, , will be there to supply some live tunes and a local face painter will be providing free designs!

Don’t forget to bring a hat, sunscreen, and water. We will have limited water and snacks.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Accessibility: There are ramps on the sidewalks where there is accessible parking and ramps are also on all four corners and streets of the Square.

Parking: Free parking is available along the Square with a parking lot behind the Wells Fargo building. More options are at dentonmainstreet.org/pages/parking.

Restrooms: Businesses around the Square are graciously allowing event attendees to use their restrooms that are all-use. We will share the list of available restrooms closer to the event. You can also ask a volunteer for guidance the day of the event.

Let’s get to workin’
Stoke is a local, queer-owned, co-working space for entrepreneurs, artists, and community organizations.

On June 5, will open their doors for Pride! We’ll be networking, creating, expressing, collaborating, and clacking away on our laptops. Stoke will provide the free space, outlets, WiFi, and will also have some complimentary beverages on hand. Table/desk and outlet spaces are first-come, first-serve. This is a come-and-go event so hang out for as long or as little as you’d like.

This is just the place to explore your big ideas, connect with other community members, or maybe hunker down on a project you’ve been working on. So think about what you want to work on that day: Advocacy? Art? A passion project? Community-building?

The PRIDENTON team is also teaming up with to record short interviews; to document and collect your pride stories over the last 10 years.

At the Denton Quakertown Civic Center.

This is a night where local businesses and organizations show their support and PRIDE for the LGBTQIA2S+ community by participating in a “reverse pride parade” where businesses are the “floats” and participants come to YOU. Attendees will bounce between floats to engage with you, pick up some swag, take pictures and build relationships with businesses that support the LGBTQIA2S+ community. While this event is flanked by brick & mortar businesses on and around The Square, small businesses, organizations, and artists also have the opportunity to have booths in and around our main event area at the Civic Center.

🖤Our sweet pals at Spiderweb Salon will be hosting their annual SPIDERDEAD event on Sunday, November 9th at Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studio. 3pm Potluck; 4pm Program. This as a free event but there will be opportunities to donate to our therapy scholarship fund.

This will be the 8th year they have hosted this deeply cherished, collective mourning ritual. “[SpiderDead is] a place to put your pain, your eulogies, your grief, your rage, your disappointment, your sense of loss and despair. a place to build community & resilience. a place to release judgement & shame. a place to feel and maybe even start to heal.”

There will be a community ofrenda for folks to bring their photos and offerings for their loved ones (people and pets). Please note that all items you bring must be removed by the end of the event. Any items left, will be held for 30 days before being ceremoniously discarded at the next full moon ritual.

*Program sign up slots have been filled.
*Content Warning for this event. There is persistent discussion of death, loss, and grief (which includes the larger umbrella of mental health). Tissues and peer support will be present but please also assess your respective needs. 🖤
