🌎❤️ Still celebrating a wonderful World Polio Day in Denton!

🙏A HUGE thank-you to everyone who came out to walk, raise awareness, and support Rotary's mission to end polio once and for all! We loved connecting with fellow Rotarians from the Denton - Lake Cities Rotary, a morning club, Denton Evening Rotary, and UNT Rotaract Club!

🎉 Thanks to the generosity of our club members, we raised nearly $500 for Rotary's End Polio Now fund!

What a wonderful reminder of what we can accomplish when we come together for a great cause!

This is Rotary at its best! 💛

🌎❤️ Happy World Polio Day!

What better way to celebrate than bringing our Denton-area Rotary family together for a World Polio Walk around the beautiful Denton Square!

We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day as members of the Rotary Club of Denton, Denton - Lake Cities Rotary, a morning club, Denton Evening Rotary, and UNT Rotaract Club came together to raise awareness and money about Rotary's mission to end polio once and for all!

One of the most meaningful parts of the day was having a polio survivor join us for the walk. What an inspiring reminder of why we continue this fight and why our commitment to eradicating polio matters so much.

An extra-special shout-out to Rotarian Marla Phillips Strittmatter for spearheading this walk in Denton and bringing all four of our Rotary clubs together for a wonderful day of awareness, fellowship, and friendship. Thank you, Marla, for making it happen!

A big thank-you also to Beth Marie's Old Fashioned Ice Cream & Soda Fountain for letting us set up outside the shop, where we enjoyed visiting and sharing what Rotary is all about.

Since 1988, global efforts have reduced wild polio cases by more than 99%, but our work isn't finished. Rotary has been at the forefront of this fight, and we won't stop until polio is gone for good!

This is what Rotary is all about—coming together as friends, serving our communities, and making a difference in the world. We are proud to be part of this Rotary family! 💛

👟Tomorrow's the Day - World Largest Polio Walk!

Saturday, October 24th, Denton Rotary will join others across our district for the World’s Largest Walk for Polio Eradication. Family and Friends are invited to join us at 9:45 am outside Beth Marie's Old Fashioned Ice Cream & Soda Fountain on the Denton Square.

⭐The walk is free, and all are welcome. Donations are accepted through Venmo to our End Polio Now fund

🎃After the walk, head down the street and check out the Coffin Races the annual Denton's Day of the Dead Festival!

🎤Q&A with Mayor Chris Watts

What a great Rotary meeting yesterday! We were pleased to welcome City of Denton Mayor Chris Watts for an engaging Q&A session.

🤔Our members brought thoughtful questions that sparked meaningful conversations about issues affecting Denton, including property tax rates, the city budget, ways to better connect our communities, plans for Quakertown, guardrails for data center development, and opportunities for citizens to serve our city.

⭐One highlight came at the end of the meeting, when we invited everyone who has served or is currently serving on City Council, city committees, or in community leadership programs like Leadership Denton to join Mayor Watts for a group photo. Seeing that group was a wonderful reminder of how many people give their time, talents, and energy to make Denton a better place.

📚We also presented Mayor Watts with a book that will be donated to the Denton Public Library in appreciation of his time with us, continuing our Rotary tradition of supporting literacy.

❤It truly takes a village to make Denton the extraordinary community it is! We're grateful for Mayor Watts' time, for everyone who steps up to serve, and for the thoughtful conversations that help move our city forward.

⭐Making an IMPACT!

We were proud to present a $5,000 check on behalf of the Friends of Mark Burroughs to Texas Health Denton at today's club meeting.

The new Behavioral Health Center in Denton, will be known around town as the Burrough Center. ThIs will begin to fill a gap in mental health support in our community and make lasting, positive impact for generations to come, just like Mark did. The new clinic will be named in memory of our dear friend and dedicated Rotarian, Mark Burroughs.

Fellow Rotarians will be donating to match this gift, making our combined donation $10,000. This is how Rotarians come together to honor one of their own and lead the way for good things in our community.

💛📚 THANK YOU, Soma Massage Therapy! 📚💛

As part of their Dolly Day celebration, Soma Massage Therapy made a generous donation of $250 to Road to Reading, and this isn't the first time they've shown up for Denton kids. Soma has supported Road to Reading every single year since it began. Four years strong! 🙌

Thanks to partners like Soma, Denton ISD students go home with books of their very own, and that's something Dolly herself would love. 🎶📖
We're grateful for their steady support and their big hearts for this community.
