Its mission was to make financial resources available to young Jewish citizenry of limited means so they could pursue their dreams of higher education. Our belief that an educated citizenry is essential to a healthy democracy. The Foundation sees higher education as a catalyst for positive change, a force that can transform the lives of individuals and families and advance the economic and civic h
ealth of societies. A community that truly recognizes the importance of higher education is one that ensures the doors to postsecondary opportunity are open to all who have the potential to succeed, regardless of economic background or lack of resources. In 1953, eligibility for the Foundation’s interest-free, no-fees loan program expanded to include all qualified applicants without regard to religion. African-American students from most USA received the first financial awards made to non-Jewish residents. In the early 1960s, the organization became independent and non-sectarian as The Global Scholarship Foundation of USA. In 1960, A marketing entrepreneur and philanthropist conceived and launched the first ScholarShop, a retail store that sells high quality donated clothing and accessories, generating a dedicated stream of revenue for The Global Scholarship Foundation’s education programs. Proceeds from ScholarShop, students' exceptional loan repayment rate and increasing philanthropic support including Henry Ford, Charles Schwab, Joseph Widener and others allowed The Scholarship Foundation to grow significantly in the next two decades. In 1989, the Foundation hired its first executive director and initiated a long-term strategic plan to improve and expand services, including increased opportunities through its student loan and grant programs. In 1994, the Foundation created the Student Advocate and Advising Program to address students’ need for information and assistance in navigating the increasingly complicated process of applying for college admission local and abroad and required financial aid. In 2001, the Foundation launched its Bravo Grant program, which provides scholarship grants to specially selected recipients internationally especially under-developed countries which though was a success resulting in 1800 students benefiting in outright $20,000 to $40,000 grant per student to cover the duration of their courses, unfortunately some of the recipients of these scholarship dropped out and pocketed their scholarship difference while others accessed this funds without enrolling into university through the aid of corrupt international Charity organizations we used. The program I was thereafter ten (10) years later in (2011) rebranded to International Gate Scholarship (IGS) with stricter selection processes resulting in us handling application and selections ourselves. In 2011, some 650 students from most US State region received $13.6 million in interest-free loans and grants for postsecondary education through the financial assistance programs of The Global Scholarship Foundation. Since its founding almost a century ago, the Foundation has distributed nearly $150 million for higher education to more than 17,000 students from the USA and internationally.
