Texas Veterans Hall of Fame

Texas Veterans Hall of Fame The mission of the Texas Veterans Hall of Fame is to honor all Texas Veterans. The Valor category honors the valorous actions to save and protect comrades.

The Texas Veterans Hall of Fame will honor Texas Veterans in four categories: Valor, Service, Support, and Patriotism. An example of these is the 78 Texas Medal of Honor Recipients. The Service category honors those Veterans that served with high honors in the military and at the local, state, and federal level. The Support category honors those organizations that have made a difference in the liv

es of Texas Veterans and their families. The Patriotism category is the signature project that honors all Texas Veterans by placing a medallion or marker on or near every grave that will have a link on the medallion to allow visitors viewing the grave to pull up the link and read about the Veteran and their service and accomplishments. This effort will be ongoing.

D-DAY REMEMBRANCE MESSAGE
From Gary E. Steele, SMSgt, USAF (Ret.), President & Co-Founder, Texas Veterans Hall of Fame

Today, we pause to remember one of the most significant days in the history of freedom—June 6, 1944, known throughout the world as D-Day.

Eighty-two years ago, thousands of brave young Americans, joined by Allied forces, crossed the English Channel and stormed the beaches of Normandy, France. Facing machine-gun fire, artillery, mines, and overwhelming obstacles, they pressed forward into history. Many never returned home. Many left behind dreams, families, and futures so that others might live free.

Those soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen were not superheroes. They were ordinary citizens who answered an extraordinary call. Farmers, teachers, factory workers, students, and sons of America stood shoulder to shoulder against tyranny and changed the course of the world.

As President of the Texas Veterans Hall of Fame, I ask every American to remember that freedom is never free. The sacrifices made on the beaches of Normandy were paid for in blood, courage, and unwavering commitment to a cause greater than oneself.

Today, many of those heroes have passed into history. Their voices may be silent, but their legacy continues to speak through the freedoms we enjoy each day. It is our responsibility to ensure that future generations know their stories, understand their sacrifices, and appreciate the price that was paid for liberty.

At the Texas Veterans Hall of Fame, our mission is to preserve and share those stories so they are never forgotten. D-Day is more than a date in a history book—it is a reminder of what Americans can accomplish when duty, honor, courage, and patriotism guide their actions.

As we remember the heroes of Normandy, let us also remember all who have served since, carrying forward the same spirit of sacrifice and service.

May we never forget those who landed on those distant shores. May we never forget those who gave all. And may we always remain worthy of the freedoms they secured.

"All gave some. Some gave all. The heroes of D-Day gave a future to generations they would never meet."

God Bless our D-Day Veterans, our Armed Forces, and the United States of America.
