Denton Hi Noon Lions along with the Denton Lions Club, Denton Triangle Lions Club and the Denton Robson Ranch Lions Club conducted a vision screening project for students of the Denton ISD School District, Denton, TX on July 20 and 27, 2024.
642 students were given vision screening tests using the Plus Optix and Spot machines. 254 students were determined to need additional vision checks by the school nurses or eye doctors.
This project was a great opportunity for all 4 Denton Lions Clubs to work together to serve our community of Denton, Texas.

Denton Hi Noon and Robson Ranch Lions Clubs provided some much needed repairs and cleaning at the Denton City County Day School. Work included repairing a retaining wall on the playground and clearing, cleaning and reorganizing a storage building along with other maintenance work. The pre school is a non profit community organization serving low to moderate income families so parents can work.
Great opportunity for combining with the Denton Lions to Serve our city.

Denton Hi Noon Lions Club of Texas along with the other three Denton Lions Clubs, Denton Lions Club, Denton Triangle Lions Club and Denton Robson Ranch Lions Club provided a Vision Screening at the Denton School District Back to School Events on July 22 and 29, 2023. 479 Children were screened using the PlusOptix Vision screeners and 137 children were referred to be seen by an eye doctor or the school nurse. This is a valuable service to the community giving parents an advanced indication their child may need glasses to see better to perform better in the class room.

Denton Hi Noon Lions Club of Texas along with members from Denton Lions Club, Denton Triangle Lions Club and Denton Robson Ranch Lions Club provided an Vision Screening June 15 at “Our Daily Bread” Community Shelter. The Hi Noon Lions used their newly purchased Titmus Vision Screener to check 39 adults. 28 were referred to America’s Best Eyeglasses and Care on Loop 288. America’s Best is providing vouchers for an eye exam and glass to those needing to see better. Those only needing reading glasses were provided with new glasses from the Texas District 2E2 Eyeglasses recycling center.

The Denton Hi Noon Lions Club toured the new Our Daily Bread community shelter on Tuesday evening January 17, 2023 along with members of the Denton Lions Club and Denton Triangle Lions Club. The new facility on Loop 288 provides temporary shelter, meals, clothing, and counseling needs to those going through transitions in their lives. Our Daily Bread received a grant to purchase a new van for transportation and material moves as needed. Denton Hi Noon Lions helped complete the purchase by providing a donation of $2,650.00. Denton Hi Noon Lions Club has been a longtime supporter of Our Daily Bread providing funding in support of trucks used to gather food supplies from grocery stores. Hi Noon Lions President Jack Ackernan says the new van will be used to transport persons between facilities the organization uses and pick up small donations as needed.

Denton Hi Noon Lions served the City of Denton Saturday March 26 by cleaning up litter along University Drive between Bell Avenue and Ruddell street. This is the area along the old TWU golf course. This project was in conjunction with the Great American Clean up and Keep Denton Beautiful. Over 6 full 30 gallon trash bags were collected. This activity supports our quarterly Adopt a Spot commitment to improve the Environment in our city. See below pictures of Lions and family members working the event.
