Dear friends and colleagues, I am immensely excited and honored to announce that I have been appointed Head of the Guitar Program at SMU-Meadows School of the Arts. I will be walking in the footsteps of one of the greatest Titans in our field -who was also my first guitar professor, the late Robert Guthrie. There are no words to express my gratitude and fervor for this new opportunity and limitless horizon. I have so many incredible people to thank for supporting and believing in me over the years on this fantastic journey, most of all, Mr. Guthrie. I am deeply humbled, honored, and incredibly overwhelmed.

The Guidonian Guitar

Truly, the only book of its kind !!!

Here’s what guitar professors are saying about this book:

“This book should be seriously considered as playing a major role in any university guitar program with an aim at developing high-level students that not only play the instrument well, but also understand and internalize the music they perform.”

– René Izquierdo

“I have never seen anything written on this topic in english to rival this work.”
– Anthony Glise

“Beautifully organized and thorough, this book is an amazing piece of work.”
– Robert Guthrie,
SMU

“This new text by Dr. Burns offers much-needed solfège and audiation training materials for the next generation of professional guitarists. His book is accessible and well-organized, using musical examples of celebrated guitar composers and pedagogues that relate directly to our instrument. I plan on using The Guidonian Guitar daily in my collegiate and pre-college classes to help my students connect more deeply with their inner muse and bring their unique artistry to life.”
