Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families in blue today

Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of retired Denton PD Investigators David Scott and Russell Lewis, who dedicated their distinguished careers to service, integrity, and the pursuit of justice.

Detective Scott spent many years in narcotics, leaving a lasting impact on countless officers and on the Denton community. After retiring from Denton PD, he continued his commitment to public safety with the Denton County Sheriff’s Office, where he remained deeply involved in narcotics enforcement.

Detective Lewis laid the foundation for what is now Denton PD’s modern forensics section. His work set the standard our department still follows today.

Their dedication extended far beyond the badge. They were mentors, partners, and steady presences during some of the most challenging moments our community has faced. We extend our deepest condolences to their families, friends, and the many colleagues whose lives they touched. May their memories be a blessing, and may we honor them by carrying forward the values they lived every day.💙
