VAST coordinates a number of activities throughout the year to support the organizational mission statement and goals. VAST Monthly Guest Artist Presentations:
Everyone is welcome to attend the monthly meetings, which include a guest artist presentation. The presentations are held at 6:45 pm on the first Wednesday of each month (September through May), at the Patterson-Appleton Center for the Vi
sual Arts, 400 East Hickory, Denton, Texas 76202. Monthly guest artist presentations feature an art demonstration/lecture given by artists using varying mediums. VAST members are encouraged to bring a piece of art to our monthly meetings to enter into a member’s choice competition known as the Mini-Show. We vote on our favorite pieces during the break. At the conclusion of the program, the artwork that received the most votes wins 1st place and the artist who created it is named “Artist of the Month." A second place winner is also named. The mini-show does not take place during our May meeting when we have our High School Art Competition. Also during the May meeting, past “Artists of the Month” winners bring back their winning artworks, and from these pieces, we vote again to select our “Artist of the Year.”

monthly critique groups, invitational exhibitions, mini-competitions and more! VAST also sponsors an annual art competition for Denton County high school art students. VAST Membership:
