Last week, Leadership Denton Class 39 participated in Health & Wellness Day 💪🏥 This day is designed to give participants an opportunity to connect with the resources in Denton related to community and personal health and well-being.

The class began their day at Texas Health Center for Women and heard an update on the state of healthcare from Jeff Reecer, President of Texas Health Denton. In the afternoon, the class took a trip to Denton Parks and Rec to hear from Gary Packan, Director of Parks & Recreation. They also got some exercise at the new pickleball courts to end the day 🎾🏆

Leadership Denton Class 39 is in the early stage of developing a proposal for an initiative addressing affordable childcare in the Denton community.

To ensure their project aligns with the community’s needs and interests, the class has created a short, 7 question survey. Your feedback is important to the class as they strive to create a project that reflects the desires and requirements of community members.

Last week, Leadership Denton Class 39 took a deep dive into Denton's non-profit community. Non-Profit Day is designed to give the class an opportunity to connect with resources in our community related to local social services and develop a greater understanding of local need 💙

Last week, Leadership Denton Class 39 spent Education Day at the LaGrone Academy at the ATC, University of North Texas, North Central Texas College and Texas Woman's University learning about the cradle to career pipeline in Denton and the intersection between workforce and education 🏫📚✏️

Leadership Denton Class 39 has officially completed the first two days of their program 💪 On Monday, the class spent a day out in nature at Leadership On The Move team building and ropes courses. On day two, the class participated in a Denton scavenger hunt, an intro to the class book (The Infinite Game by Simon Sinek), heard from City of Denton Police Department Chief Doug Shoemaker and Denton Mayor Gerard Hudspeth, and continued to build relationships as a team.

We can already tell is going to do BIG things, and we're excited to see these individuals continue to grow as community leaders!

Last week, hosted their class presentation at United Way of Denton County. The class showcased their findings and recommendations for reinstating the Denton Young Professionals organization and also provided an overview of their year so far. Congratulations to LD38 on a job well done! 👏 Thank you to UWDC for offering their space as well as Cheese & Salsa for serving light refreshments.
