Today, in recognition of Memorial Day, we remember and honor the service and sacrifice of our military members who have perished while serving in the U.S. armed forces. We give our deepest respect and appreciation to our fallen warriors.

Throughout history, Chickasaws have bravely fought in every branch of the U.S. military to defend our country and freedoms. Just as they carry on our proud warrior tradition, our tribe remains committed to supporting and honoring those who fight on our behalf.

The virtual Chickasaw Veterans Wall is one of the many ways we recognize and pay tribute to Chickasaw military service members. Ten US Aviation Academy students who pursuing a certification in airframe and powerplant maintenance and repair recently received $2,500 scholarships from the Embraer Foundation.

Eula “Pearl” Carter Scott was born Dec. 9, 1915, in Marlow, Oklahoma, and made history as the youngest pilot in the United States — completing her first solo flight at age 14 in 1929. She later served the Chickasaw Nation as one of the tribe’s first community health representatives in 1972 and went on to serve three terms in the Chickasaw Nation Tribal Legislature beginning in 1983.

Inducted into the Chickasaw Hall of Fame in 1995, Pearl’s story continues to inspire Chickasaws to dream big and to never give up!

Embraer Foundation Awards $25,000 in Scholarships to US Aviation Academy Aviation Maintenance Students
Fort Worth, Texas — US Aviation Academy hosted the Embraer Foundation Scholarship Awards Ceremony, celebrating a new partnership focused on student success and the future of aviation workforce development.
The partnership follows the opening of Embraer’s new commercial Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility at Perot Field Alliance Airport in Fort Worth in summer 2025. “Student success is at the heart of everything we do,” said Michelle McConnell, who delivered welcome and closing remarks on behalf of US Aviation Academy. With support from Native Americans in Aviation, US Aviation Academy was selected as an Embraer Foundation 2025 Educational Partner. The ceremony featured remarks from Michael Wagner, Board Member of Native Americans in Aviation.
Each scholarship recipient received $2,500 to be applied toward tuition in US Aviation Academy’s Aviation Maintenance Technician program. US Aviation Academy expressed its appreciation to the Embraer Foundation for its investment in education and workforce development, to Native Americans in Aviation for its continued advocacy and mentorship, and to faculty and leadership who advance the academy’s Students First philosophy every day.
