What a difference a few hours can make! Over a 4-hour period this week, 34 volunteers pulled an incredible 274 pounds of invasive garlic mustard along one of Neshota Park’s most popular trails and in nearby off-trail areas. 🌱

A big thank you to the Denmark Lightning 4-H Club, Denmark High School students, and Viking Academy students for lending a hand. Every plant removed helps give native plants and wildflowers a better chance to thrive in the years ahead.

Attention Neshota Park Horse Trail users! We have a partial opening of the Horse Trails as we continue to work towards that full opening. As a reminder, trail passes are required for all persons 16 years or older. Daily and annual passes can be purchased online or through the Brown County Parks app. Daily and Temporary Annual permits can also be purchased at the Neshota VenTek pay station. Exact cash or credit card may be used to make your purchase. Redeem/exchange your temporary permit in person or by mail with the Brown County Parks Office. Friends of Neshota Park

Here’s a quick look around the park today: the sandbox just got new trucks and toys, the picnic tables are out, flowers are blooming and there’s a special new flower display honoring veterans by the memorial.

Good news! This week Viking Academy students helped plant three new trees in Neshota Park’s picnic area, including two trees funded with a $500 grant from the Cellcom Green Gifts Program.

Many of the picnic area’s oak trees are over 100 years old, so planting new trees now will help maintain the character and shade of the area for future generations.

Thank you to Cellcom for supporting this effort, to Viking Academy students for their hard work and to Haylee from the Brown County Parks Department for guiding the students and helping make the planting project a success.

As the water recedes, we are uncovering more than just dry ground. Mud, debris, and soft conditions mean additional closures are now in place. Please respect all closures and remember, never trust a puddle. Friends of Neshota Park Friends of Reforestation Camp Trails Friends of the Mountain Bay State Trail
