TWENTY-FIVE YEARS LATER, WE REMEMBER.

On September 11, 2001, our nation watched unimaginable tragedy unfold. We also witnessed extraordinary courage, sacrifice, and service as first responders and ordinary Americans ran toward danger to help people they had never met.

Twenty-five years later, we have not forgotten them.

This Friday, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office will stand alongside the Denison Texas Police Department, Sherman Police Department, Sherman Fire - Rescue, Denison Fire Rescue, fellow first responders, local officials, and members of our community to remember the 2,977 lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the courage and sacrifice of those who answered the call that day.

We invite our community to stand with us.

For those of us who remember that day, may we never forget.

For those who were not yet born, may we continue to tell the story.

We remember the lives lost.
We honor the heroes.
We remember the sacrifice.
We will never forget.

FIVE YEARS LATER, WE REMEMBER.

On September 8, 2021, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office lost Investigator Dusty Wainscott in the line of duty.

Dusty served our community for many years as a patrol deputy, hostage negotiator, criminal investigator, and intelligence investigator. But those who knew him remember far more than the uniform. They remember his infectious smile, his unmistakable laugh, his sense of humor, and the friendship he freely gave to those around him.

Five years have passed, but Dusty’s absence is still felt throughout our agency and by everyone who loved him. His service, sacrifice, and the impact he made on the people of Grayson County will never be forgotten.

Today, we pause to honor Dusty, remember his family, and reflect on a life devoted to serving others.

Today marks one year since we lost Detective Dale Ingram to his illness.

There is not a day that goes by that Dale is not thought about by those of us who had the privilege of knowing and working with him. We miss his incredible sense of humor, his stories, and his old-school way of doing law enforcement.

Detective Ingram dedicated his life to serving others, and his impact on the Van Alstyne Police Department and this community will never be forgotten.
