Starla Webb (often referred to as our Matriarch) celebrates 45 years with WESCO!
Read what she has to say below:
My name is Starla Webb, and I have proudly called Schleswig home for many years. I'm blessed with two grown children and three wonderful grandchildren who keep life full of joy.
Last month marked a milestone I never imagined reaching—I celebrated 45 years with WESCO. After graduating from high school, I started working at WESCO. At the time, I never dreamed I would spend my entire career here, but looking back, I wouldn't change a thing.
Over the years, I've had the opportunity to hold many different positions within WESCO. Watching the organization grow has been beyond anything I could have imagined. I've witnessed countless success stories, celebrated many achievements, and had the privilege of working alongside some truly amazing co-workers.
When I started, WESCO was located in the original building, and I was fortunate to be part of the move into our current facility in October 1981. Since then, I've watched WESCO continue to grow—not only in size but in the services we provide and the lives we touch.
One of the greatest rewards of my career has been our members. Their determination, kindness, and resilience have inspired me every day. No matter how challenging a day might be, one smile, one hug, or one conversation with a member can completely turn it around. Those moments remind me why I've stayed for 45 years.
I've seen many members come and go throughout the years, leaving lasting memories. Looking back, I sometimes wish I had started writing down all of the special stories and unforgettable moments. There have been so many.
Today, WESCO has become an important part of our community. We are deeply integrated into the lives of so many families, and I believe our community has become much more aware of what we do. Even so, I still wish more people would take the time to learn about WESCO and see firsthand the incredible work that happens here every day.
This year is especially meaningful as WESCO celebrates 60 years of serving our community. It has been an honor to spend 45 of those years as part of this incredible organization.
As I reflect on my journey, I'm filled with gratitude—for the opportunities I've been given, the friendships I've made, the members who have touched my heart, and the community that has supported WESCO throughout the years. It's been an amazing ride, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have been part of WESCO's story.
