Today, Kiwanis Club of Denham Springs proudly hosted the 53rd Annual Peace Officer Awards honoring the outstanding men and women who serve and protect our community each day.

We were honored to welcome special guest speaker Chris Hansen, whose message was both impactful and inspiring.

Congratulations to this year’s honorees selected by their departments:

⭐ DSPD – Corporal Brandon Ashton
⭐ LPSO – Sgt. Kyle Hotard
⭐ DS Marshal’s Office – Deputy Janet Melancon
⭐ LSP – Trooper Ethan Ladner

We were especially proud to have students from Denham Springs Elementary K-Kids join us as they continue honoring the legacy of Cpl. Shawn Kelly by handwriting appreciation notes to local officers. Two of the K-Kids also did a wonderful job leading the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Tullier Service Above Self Award was presented to Sgt. Kyle Hotard in recognition of his exceptional dedication and service to our community.

Thank you to all law enforcement officers and first responders for your sacrifice, courage, and commitment. Your service does not go unnoticed.

We held our 11th Annual Mathlete Event this morning. We bring in 48 of the top 3rd Graders in the Parish to compete in a little Math Competition. Superintendent Jody Purvis kicked it off and it was great to see such excitement from the students and the community.
This was a shared project with Walker Kiwanis Club.
Winners:

4th Place: South Walker Elem - Caleb Castille
3rd Place: Denham Springs Elem - Phillip Preston
2nd Place: Denham Springs Elem - Tristen Lewis
1st Place: Juban Parc Elem - Jackson David Brennan
*As 1st Place winner, Jackson will be riding in our Christmas Parade this year.

Our club thoroughly enjoyed hearing from Parish President, Randy Delatte today at our meeting! He spoke on the speed in which his administration has been getting things done. He has all the levels of parish government pulling in the same direction which allows time and resources to be much more efficient to get projects done.
He’s also going to be our first Parish President to address Congress before the State of the Union Address and is a guest for the Address as well. Very informative & great to hear from our local leaders!!

As part of our annual Peace Officer of the Year event, we search for a Livingston Parish law enforcement officer/department/ unit deserving of our established "Nick Tulli-er Service Above Self" award.
The "Nick Tullier Service Above Self" award will be delegated to a deserving individual, department or unit that has placed the needs of others over the needs of their own, without desiring praise, thought, or reward for their actions.
