Prayer is important at the church house, the schoolhouse, and the legislative house! Pastor Dennis Schaffer opened the LA State Senate in prayer by leading through Christ’s example prayer and inviting the chamber to recognize “our Father, which art in heaven…” Thank you, Senate President, Valerie Hodges, and Dale Hoffpauir of the Louisiana Family Forum.

It was an honor to welcome Pastor Dennis Schaeffer of Open Door Baptist Church in Denham Springs to the Louisiana State Capitol today to deliver the opening prayer before the Louisiana Senate.

In the midst of a very difficult week with redistricting, racial tensions flaring, committee meetings, lasting until 4:30 in the morning, nearing the end of session we know that God is our strength.

I am grateful to be serving in a state that still honors God where we are free to call up on the name of Jesus altogether. His name is a unifying force in the state of Louisiana.
