DeMotte Christian Schools is shocked and deeply saddened by the recent events involving multiple DMCS students.

As many of you know, a car accident involving Jorie Rottier, class of 2025, child of Rich and Laura Rottier, and Annika and Aspyn Rodriquez, children of Matt and Stephanie Rodriquez, happened yesterday. Jorie passed away from injuries sustained in the accident, and Annika and Aspyn are in the University of Chicago Hospital being treated for their injuries.

Jorie was an amazing, kind-hearted light that shone brightly throughout her life. She not only contributed immensely during her time at DMCS, but also to the community as a whole. Her love for the Lord was evident, and we will miss her sweet smile and tender spirit greatly. Her dad, Rich, is a former board member, and her mom, Laura, is a longtime supporter and volunteer. The Rodriquez girls are a wonderful part of our school and bring joy to all who know them, and Stephanie and Matt both previously worked for DMCS. Both families have deep roots and lasting relationships within the DeMotte Christian Schools community. Our hearts are heavy as they navigate this tragedy.

We know God is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We stand firm on the hope of heaven, and we believe where two or more are gathered in His name, He is there, so please join us in praying for peace, comfort, and strength as the Rottier family grieves the loss of their daughter. Please also pray for healing for the Rodriquez girls, and for wisdom and grace for Stephanie and Matt as they make decisions regarding the care of their daughters. Celebrating a Legacy of Heart and Stewardship: Happy Retirement, Shelley!

It is with a mixture of deep gratitude, immense joy, and a few tucked-away tears that we announce the retirement of someone who has been the literal and emotional backbone of DeMotte Christian Schools for 26 years.

While her official title reads Finance Manager, anyone who has walked through our doors knows that a spreadsheet could never fully define what Shelley means to the DMCS family. Yes, she kept our numbers meticulous, ensured our stewardship was faithful, and managed the complex gears of our school’s finances with absolute grace. But her true legacy isn't found in the ledgers; it’s found in the lives she touched every single day. She was, and always will be, so much more than a finance manager:

❤The Ultimate Encourager: She was the comforting smile when a parent needed reassurance, a listening ear for teachers at the end of a long day, and a steady anchor when things got chaotic.

❤A Prayer Warrior: Shelley didn't just manage tuition; she deeply cared for the families paying it. Countless times, she paused her work to pray for a family experiencing hard times or to celebrate a victory with a colleague.

❤The Keeper of Culture: From remembering birthdays to ensuring the school office felt like a warm, welcoming home, she infused Christ-like love into every corner of her workspace.

Shelley, as you step into this well-deserved retirement, please know that your impact is woven into the very fabric of DeMotte Christian Schools. You have modeled what it means to do all things "as working for the Lord" (Colossians 3:23), and we are forever grateful.

We pray that this next season is filled with endless rest, beautiful moments with family, and the deep joy of knowing you ran your race with absolute excellence.

We love you, Shelley! You will be deeply missed, but your legacy here will never be forgotten.

DeMotte Christian Schools is still enrolling students for the 2026–2027 school year! Openings remain in various grade levels, and spots are filled on a first come, first serve basis.

As a covenantal school, we value partnering with Christian families in the spiritual and academic growth of their children. Families interested in applying are encouraged to complete the application process by July 16 to ensure there is enough time to complete admissions before the start of the school year.

Summer is a time to enjoy family meals, time with friends, and general relaxation from the fast pace of school sports! We encourage you to take advantage of all of the fun of summer!
Our Limited Contact Program (open gym) also offers opportunities for our student-athletes to continue to grow in their skills with their teammates! We'd love to see you there as we continue to build our athletic programs!
