Marengo County Historical Society's Rooster Day in Demopolis, AL includes the C***s Crow 5K & 1K, an arts and crafts fair -all handmade, an entertainment stage, area food vendors, and Coop Games for kids - inflatables, petting zoo, crafts, and more! Thousands attended the auction and roosters were donated by famous people including President Woodrow Wilson, Hellen Keller, and "Fatty" Arbuckle, to
name a few. Marengo County Historical Society (MCHS) is re-inventing Rooster Day on Saturday April 9, 2016. The 2016 Rooster Day will start with a Cock's Crow 5K run. Daytime activities include a Fair in the Square with regional arts and craft vendors and exhibits and activities such as robotic-themed demonstrations from area robotic teams. At the Fair, you can Stock Your Coop with great home items or home baked goods or participate in kids games or even a rooster calling contest. The day ends an evening "rooster" auction and dance at Lyon Hall. MCHS is a non-profit organization that promotes historic home preservation in the Marengo County area. MCHS hosts several events including an elaborate Mardi Gras ball, Haints & Haunts (a spooky, history-based Halloween tour), and a biennial Spring Pilgrimage tour of historic homes.
