This past week was a wonderful reminder that the work we do is made stronger by the people and organizations who work alongside us. From continued training and professional development to connecting with families at Saturday’s Tots to Cops, we are grateful for every opportunity to learn, collaborate, and serve our community.

A very special thank you to Chief Deputy Carter for organizing Tots to Cops and bringing our Multidisciplinary Team partners together for a day centered around connection and community.

Safer schools start with adults who are prepared to recognize, respond, and protect. đź’™

Our team recently provided four sessions of Darkness to Light’s Child Safety Foundations: Recognizing and Reporting Harm training for Demopolis City Schools, with participating faculty and staff completing the D2L training and receiving CEUs. We’re grateful to Dr. Pugh, Superintendent of Demopolis City Schools, and Gesjambra Dial, Mental Health Coordinator, for helping make this important training possible.Our work continued at Sweet Water High School, where we presented six sessions covering the same essential child-safety topics with faculty and staff. While we don’t have photos from our time at Demopolis City Schools, the photos in this post are from our presentation at Sweet Water High School . 📸

Back-to-school conversations don’t have to feel like an interrogation. 🎒💙

Ask simple questions, listen closely, and pay attention when an answer, or a change in behavior, raises concern. Creating a routine of open conversation can make it easier for children to share when something doesn’t feel right.

And when a concern is bigger than a conversation, knowing when to reach out to the right professional matters.

Not all heroes wear capes. ❤️

Sometimes, being a hero starts with finding the courage to speak up. Teach children that their voice matters, prepare them with the tools to protect themselves, and most importantly, be ready to listen when they use them. 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️
