This is where it started.

Students developed original artwork and learned how to scale their designs using a grid method before bringing them to life on public dumpsters across our community.

16 students participated in the painting process, working together to turn each design into something real. Families showed up and worked alongside their kids, making it a shared experience.

What began as a workshop became four public art installations across the city.

We’re continuing this work this year with new projects and more opportunities for students to create and contribute.

Our Fall ’25 interns, Hayle and Christina, have been working with us throughout the season—bringing creativity, teamwork, and fresh ideas to every project they touch.

🎉 Congratulations to our Dumpster Hunt Winners! 🎉

We’re excited to recognize two amazing participants — Isabella C. and Shayla R. 👏

Each post throughout the hunt counted as an entry, and these two had the most participation. Even when the dumpsters weren’t out every week, they kept up with the challenge and showed real dedication in finding and sharing the painted dumpsters whenever they were on display.

Each winner will receive two movie vouchers to Starmax Deming, good for a movie, popcorn, and a drink, as a thank-you for their effort and creativity.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make the Dumpster Hunt possible.

As I sit here at the Southwest New Mexico State Fair waiting for artists to pick up their art and photographs, I can’t help but feel so proud of everyone who participated. 💛

Even as a professional, it’s not easy to be vulnerable. To put your work out there and have it judged alongside others.

Those ribbons aren’t a reflection of your worth or whether your art is “good enough.” Art is subjective. Every judge, every viewer sees something different.

What matters most is that you created, you showed up, and you shared a piece of yourself. The more you create, the more you grow.

Keep creating, keep showing up—because that’s where true artistry begins. 🎨✨📷
