Friends of Rockhound State Park A non-profit volunteer organization whose purpose is to assist the New Mexico Parks Department to enhance, preserve, and assist Rockhound State Park.

The Friends of Rockhound (FOR) is a non-profit volunteer organization whose purpose is to assist the New Mexico Parks Department to enhance, preserve, and promote the use of Rockhound State Park. FOR helps in many ways with interpretive programs, educational programs and special events. The Park has a new Visitor Center with many displays and a Native Plant Demonstration Garden dedicated to the interpretation of the Chihuahuan Desert. All of our activities and money raised are used to benefit Rockhound State Park and its visitors.

Please join us at our SEPTEMBER Friends of Rockhound State Park, Inc. monthly meeting, WEDNESDAY, the 30th at 10 AM at the Park's Visitor Center. Our guest speaker is local storyteller and historian Pamm Reynolds, who will be telling us about the fascinating tale of Buffalo Soldier Cathay Williams. This event is open to the public and FREE. Coffee and donuts always available.

The Friends of Rockhound State Park Board members, as well as our State Representative Jenifer Jones and several Friends members, met at Si Senor restaurant recently to discuss the future of an amphitheater to be built at the Park.
