Today, we remember and honor Ron Huth.

Before dispatching services transitioned to Volusia County, Ron was one of the voices behind the radio for the City of Deltona. He wasn’t just a dispatcher, he was part of our fire family.

In this profession, there are voices you never forget. Ron’s was one of them. No matter how chaotic or stressful the call, hearing Ron on the radio brought a sense of calm. His professionalism, attention to detail, and steady presence gave firefighters confidence that nothing would be overlooked. While he wasn’t physically on the apparatus with us, he was on every call, helping guide us through the worst moments and doing everything he could to make sure everyone made it home safely.

Dispatchers are often the unseen first first responders. They carry the weight of the emergencies they answer, comfort callers on what may be the worst day of their lives, coordinate life saving resources, and remain the calm in the middle of someone else’s crisis. Their sacrifices are often made quietly, behind a headset, but they are no less significant.

Ron made a lasting impact on countless firefighters, paramedics, law enforcement officers, and the community he served. His voice, his dedication, and his commitment to others will not be forgotten.

As we mourn Ron’s passing, let this also serve as a reminder that mental health matters. The stress carried by dispatchers, firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS professionals, and all first responders is real. Asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out. There are people who care, resources available, and hope beyond today’s struggles. No one should have to fight those battles alone.

Rest easy, Ron. Thank you for your years of service, your calming voice in our darkest moments, and for always being there when we needed you.

We’ll take it from here

Firefighters Running for Child Cancer Awareness

At the Deltona Firefighters Foundation, we are proud to support two dedicated members of our Deltona fire family as they take on an incredible challenge for an even greater cause.

Bobby and Micah have committed to competing in the River to Sea 12/6 Hour Trail Race on August 1, 2026. Known for their dedication to health, fitness, and service, they have spent countless hours training and preparing for this grueling endurance race.

But they’re not running just for themselves—they’re running to make a difference.

Their goal is to raise awareness and funds for childhood cancer awareness, with all proceeds benefiting a local organization that supports children and families impacted by cancer.

We invite you to support their journey by:
• Making a direct donation toward their fundraising goal.
• Pledging $5 per mile completed during the race.
• Joining Team Bobby or Team Micah and cheering them on as they race toward their individual fundraising goals of $1,000 each.

As always, firefighters never shy away from a little friendly competition. Follow along to see which of these dedicated firefighters reaches their fundraising goal first. While there may be some brotherly rivalry along the way, the mission remains the same: raising funds to support local children and families affected by cancer.

All donations are collected through Zeffy, allowing 100% of the funds raised to go directly toward this important cause.

Join us in supporting Bobby and Micah as they push their limits, log every mile, and prove once again that service to others extends far beyond the firehouse.

Donate. Sponsor a Mile. Choose Your Team. Support the Cause.

Yesterday, our fire department personnel responded to a residential fire and were able to quickly mitigate the situation — but not without leaving the family facing a very difficult time.
Thanks to the quick thinking and compassion of our on-duty crews, the Deltona Firefighters Foundation was contacted to see how we could help. We’ve already started the process with a small donation and are working to coordinate additional assistance for the family.
At this time, we are asking our community for help with:
•Little girl clothing/shoes – Size 4T
•Little boy clothing/shoes – Size 3T
We will continue to provide updates as we work to support this family during their time of need. Thank you, Deltona, for always stepping up when it matters most. ❤️
Stay tuned for more information.
