🐾 FOSTERS NEEDED — DELTONA, FL 🐾

Do we have any fosters who would be willing to open their home to some of the babies from the trailer park we’ve been TNRing? 🥹

During this TNR project, we had a few cats who simply weren’t healthy enough or big enough to go through their TNR appointments.

And now we have a problem…

They’re friendly. They’re social. They’re learning what it feels like to be loved.

And I REALLY, REALLY don’t want to release them back outside if we don’t have to. 😩

These babies have already survived enough.

They deserve homes.
They deserve couches.
They deserve warm beds.
They deserve to know where their next meal is coming from.
They deserve to never have to survive outside again.

We are even open to FOSTER-TO-ADOPT homes for all three!

MEOWLY CYRUS
Female • Tortie • Approx. 2 months old

Meowly Cyrus was too underweight to safely have her surgery.

She’s a little shy right now, but she is slowly warming up to people and learning that humans can be pretty great. 🥹

She just needs a patient foster who can give her a quiet, safe place to decompress, gain some weight, and continue learning how to be a spoiled little house kitten.

TAX EVASION
Male • Orange • Approx. 3 months old

This poor baby came to us SEVERELY emaciated.

Skin and bones.
Anemic.
Underweight.
Infested with fleas.
Loaded with intestinal parasites.

His tiny body had been trying to survive with essentially nothing left to give.

He is currently being treated and is doing PHENOMENAL.

He’s eating, recovering, gaining strength, and showing us what an incredibly sweet, social little kitten he is.

But Tax Evasion still needs time.

He needs a foster home where he can continue gaining weight, finish his medical care, and become the healthy little orange menace he was always supposed to be. 🥹🧡

Stanky.
You want Stanky. 😂

She is quite literally one of the friendliest, most social, loving lap cats in the world.

She wants to be with you.
She wants to follow you.
She wants your attention.
She wants your lap.
She wants to be your little shadow.

And somehow, this ridiculously loving girl ended up living outside.

She deserves so much more than that.
We have worked SO hard TNRing this trailer park to stop the endless cycle of kittens being born outside.

But when we come across cats and kittens like these — cats who are friendly, adoptable, and capable of transitioning into loving homes — we want to give them that chance whenever we possibly can.

TNR saves lives.

But for these three, we have an opportunity to do something even better:

Make sure they never have to go back.

🐾 THREE WEEKS. ONE TRAILER PARK. 32 CATS. 🐾

Three weeks ago, we walked into a small trailer park with a pretty significant community cat problem.

Today, we can finally say we have TNR’d the ENTIRE colony. 🥹
In just three weeks:

32 total cats were accounted for
28 cats were TNR’d — trapped, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and returned
5 cats and kittens were transferred into rescue
36 unborn kittens were prevented through spay/abort procedures
And 4 tiny, approximately 2-week-old kittens came into rescue after losing their mom before we were able to get her through TNR.

And somehow… we did all of this with only about $300 spent on spay/neuter appointments.
I want people to really understand why numbers like these matter.
TNR is so much more than fixing a few cats and putting them back outside.
It stops the cycle.
Those 36 pregnancies/kittens prevented weren’t just numbers.
Had those pregnancies continued, those kittens would have been born outside into a colony that was already struggling to sustain the cats living there.
They would have faced fleas, parasites, respiratory infections, injuries, predators, cars, extreme Florida heat, storms, starvation, disease and the constant fight for resources.
Some would survive.
Some wouldn’t.
And the kittens who survived would grow up, reproduce themselves, and the cycle would continue.
One unaltered female doesn’t just potentially mean one litter.
Her kittens grow up.
They reproduce.
Their kittens reproduce.
And suddenly a colony of 32 becomes 50… then 70… then 100.
That is why TNR matters.
And this is also why we support spay/abort.
I know it’s an uncomfortable subject for some
people. I understand that.
But rescue forces you to look beyond what feels good emotionally and look at the reality happening in front of you.

There are already kittens being born outside every single day who are sick, starving, injured, orphaned and dying.
There are already shelters and rescues overflowing.
There are already not enough fosters.
Not enough adopters.
Not enough money.
Not enough homes.
Preventing another litter from being born into those circumstances isn’t cruel.
Allowing the cycle to continue when we have the ability to humanely stop it doesn’t save them from suffering.

Those 36 prevented kittens will never know hunger.
They’ll never sit outside with their eyes crusted shut from infection.
They’ll never be covered in fleas and anemic.
They’ll never be hit by a car.
They’ll never die from parasites, disease, exposure or starvation.
They’ll never become another terrified feral adult producing another litter of kittens who have to fight to survive.
And THAT is why we do this.

TNR isn’t glamorous.
It’s setting traps in the heat.
It’s checking them multiple times a day.
It’s early mornings. Waking up at 5am
It’s driving back and forth to appointments.
It’s loading carriers.
It’s cleaning carriers.
It’s buying food.
It’s paying for gas.
It’s releasing cats at ridiculous hours.
It’s rearranging your entire day because the ONE cat you’ve been trying to catch for a week finally decided tonight was the night. 😂

It’s exhausting.
But then you look at a colony like this and realize:

28 cats will never reproduce again.
5 got a chance to leave colony life completely and enter rescue.
36 more kittens won’t be born into an already overwhelmed population.

And an entire trailer park now has a managed, altered community cat colony.
That is HUGE. ❤️

And none of it happened because of one person.
It happened because of ALL of you.
To every single person who donated toward the TNR appointments…
To everyone who donated cat food…
To everyone who threw us a few dollars for gas… ( and thank you Kathy for the Wawa gift card!)
To everyone who shared our posts…

Thank you for believing in what we’re trying to accomplish.

Thank you for understanding that rescue isn’t only about saving the animal standing directly in front of you.

Sometimes rescue means preventing the next generation from ever having to need rescuing in the first place.
Three weeks.

32 cats accounted for.
28 TNR’d.
5 rescue transfers.
36 potential kittens prevented.
4 orphaned babies now being cared for.
One entire trailer park completed.

All for roughly $300 in spay/neuter appointments.
THAT is what community support can accomplish.
THAT is why accessible spay/neuter matters.
And THAT is why TNR works.

I’m genuinely not sure how Zero hasn’t had any interest yet 😩
Because I’m telling you right now — it truly does not get much better than this dog.

Zero went on a little ’s field trip yesterday!
Partially for some shopping… but mostly because it was the perfect opportunity to get him out of the house and work on his training in a completely different environment.

And HUGE thank you to Lowe’s for being pet friendly, because it is seriously such a phenomenal place to work on training and socialization!

Zero absolutely KILLED IT.

He LOVED meeting all of the employees.
The employees loved meeting him.
He strutted around that store like he had somewhere important to be and a contractor’s license in his back pocket.

We’ve been working pretty heavily on basic obedience here at the house, but doing it at home and doing it in a busy store full of people, carts, noises, smells and distractions are two completely different ball games.

But, of course… Zero exceeded my expectations.

This man has officially mastered:

“Sit”
“Wait”
“Free”
“Heel”

AND all of the hand signals that go along with them.
His leash manners have improved SO much. He’s finally learned that we are, in fact, capable of walking somewhere without him towing me behind him like a water skier.

And the best part?

Zero genuinely LOVES training.
He wants to learn.
He wants to please you.
And he is ridiculously food motivated, which makes convincing him that basically anything is a fantastic idea pretty easy.

He’s affectionate.
He’s goofy.
He’s smart.
He’s handsome.
He’s eager to please.
And he continues to prove over and over again what an absolutely phenomenal dog he is.

Zero has already come SO far, and watching him become this happy, confident, well mannered boy has been pretty damn special.

Now he just needs the one thing I can’t teach him…
