Ahoy Luna fans! We’re getting ready for the upcoming Sail250 events occurring in the next few weeks and about as ready as we can get her. On board we’re down to cleaning, menus and station assignments. The ships store is stocked with new shirts and hats. We should have coffee by Yorktown.
A big thank you to Jolly Skipper Boatyard for helping us with a mast tweek this morning!

And that’s a wrap!

Day three of filming Journeys of Liberty with Hampton History Museum and Seltzer Film & Video, LLC in Town of Urbanna, VA

Wednesday was another early morning for the crew as we staged Luna for her final appearances and prepped to come home. Who would think a single antenna cable could cause so much fuss, but it did! After some work moving “cargo” around to hide modern things aboard it was showtime. The scenes were shot and we packed up. Fortunately, the wind was in our favor so we were able to sail out of the creek. The film crew knew this and were set up further down to catch us passing by. What they didn’t know was we had loaded for a broad side, stayed dressed out and gave them three huzza’s on the way.
We got out of our historic clothing and made it home in wonderful fashion.
Thank you to Luna’s support team ashore and the weeks crew of Steve, Weston, Mike M., Mike S., Nate, Jeanette, Kris and Karl for giving up part of your week for the project.

Day 2 of filming with Hampton History Museum and Seltzer Film & Video, LLC in Urbanna.
Being a part of this project is awesome and the production team is beyond great to work with. Our day started with a 0630 muster as we got the last of the modern stuff off Luna and made sure wardrobe was squared away. The morning was spent dockside watching various scenes be filmed and a few of the crew got face time! For some, this was their first production project. Then the big moment! Luna came to life, slipped her lines and set sail. While it was only back and forth in the creek, she handled beautifully and was the star of the show for an hour or so. Then back to the dock for more close up scenes.
Tomorrow is our last appearance, then homeward bound.

Luna is under way for the 2026 sailing season participating in a historical documentary, recreating “The Battle of Hampton”.-1775

The Battle of Hampton, fought on October 26–27, 1775, was the first Revolutionary War battle in Virginia and the first south of New England. Patriot militia and local residents successfully repelled a British naval attack intended to burn the town, resulting in no American casualties and a significant early victory against Lord Dunmore's forces.

We left the slip at 7:15 this morning and beat to windward the entire trip arriving in Urbanna, the filming location, three hours later in a rain storm.

A well fed crew made quick work of squaring Luna away on the dock. We then waited for the rain to stop. Provisioned, test fired a cannon and set the course yard.

Check in tomorrow for filming highlights!
