Attention Fillmore and East Side Voters:
The ballot drop box originally located on Main Street at 50 S Main right between the County building and the Legion Hall building has been moved to the back of the County building. It is still located at 50 S Main, just in the back. Which is now a true drive up and drop, for your convenience. See picture.
When dropping your ballot make sure you drop it in the correct box which is the one that says “Official Ballot Drop box” in blue. The other box is for your treasurer’s office payments.
A special thank you to the amazing Maintenance team for taking care of that so quickly for us!

A state lawmaker has introduced a bill in the Utah State Legislature to demand environmental reviews for future data center projects.

In the last few days, the dismissive attitude of Utah’s politicians toward the will of the people of Utah has been on full display. Governor Cox, legislative leaders, and the Box Elder County Commissioners all joined hands in surrendering the state of Utah to the “too good to be true” sales pitch of celebrity investor, Kevin O’Leary, for a “Death Star” sized AI data center in western Box Elder County. O’Leary is planning the largest fossil fuel driven power plant in the Western United States whose pollution will blow over the Wasatch Front. It will be a huge blow to Utah’s air quality, public health, the Great Salt Lake, and our climate.

But what you likely don’t know is that as bad as this project is, it is only the largest of 21 planned data centers in the state of Utah, some of them right near the Great Salt Lake, and would siphon water from the lake at a time when everyone knows we are in a persistent, severe drought, and the lake is on its way to disappearing.

But this battle has only just begun. UPHE is joining forces with other environmental groups in the state to fight this. You will be hearing from us soon about what that fight will look like and how you can help. For now, we urge you to call the Gov.’s office, 801-538-1000, and let him know what you think about sacrificing Utah’s natural resources so Big Tech billionaires can make even more money.

🤣

While a great deal has been made about the 40,000-acre data center planned for Box Elder County, we spoke to residents of Delta, where another data center is already under construction 10 miles south of their small town in central Utah.

Here's what they had to say (Link in comments below)

Fellow citizens of Millard County, I have been informed by a credible source, who has obtained the information from a knowledgeable local government official, that another data center intends to submit an application to locate in our county. Although this information remains unconfirmed, I believe it is crucial to alert the community and work together to develop effective strategies to address this issue. Our previous attempts to stop data centers through various means, including petitions and participation in planning and zoning meetings, have proven inadequate. Furthermore, it is clear that the argument for growth and tax base is no longer a valid justification for hosting data centers in Millard County.
County meeting agendas are only posted two weeks in advance.
In order to prepare for potential developments and ensure our voices are heard, I suggest we begin exploring new ideas and approaches. Please share your thoughts and suggestions with me via comment or message.
