LEAVE 👏 YOUNG 👏 WILDLIFE 👏 ALONE

Most young wildlife do not need rescuing because nature has prepared them to survive without human intervention. In most cases, human interaction does more harm than good. As wildlife become more visible in backyards, open spaces and on trails right now, we ask you to not to disturb young wildlife. Learn more: https://cpw.state.co.us/living-wildlife

This National Public Lands Day, we joined the Women’s Surface Saddle Club, Thunder Mountain Wheelers and U.S. Forest Service-Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre & Gunnison National Forests to pick up trash, install signs and repair buck-and-rail fencing at the Round Corral parking area. By collecting rainwater on the metal panels leading into a shaded tank, this wildlife guzzler provides water for upland birds in the North Desert when other sources have run dry. In late December, volunteers Dean Riggs, Ryan Swygman, John Howard, Chris Herrman and WSOA coordinator Meghan Dutcher replaced a missing panel and rebuilt the worn fence to a wildlife friendly design. Earlier this week, volunteers Jim Reed and Tom Derryberry with Western Slope ATV Association returned to haul out the old fence panels, ensuring no trash left behind! Special thanks to all volunteers and to Bureau of Land Management - Colorado for coordination on this project, and Colorado Wildlife Federation () for funding this repair project.
