Join us tomorrow for a day of stewardship!

Trail Stewardship Volunteer Opportunity, July 15!
- Join WSCC, , and the BLM for a stewardship workday on Jumbo Mountain. From 8 - 12 PM, we'll install a cattle guard, open up trails following the golden eagle seasonal closing, and install some new signage.

A few things to love about Jumbo Mountain:
- Hiking and biking right at the edge of town!
- 70-90 million year old fossils including giant clams, ammonites, snails, and petrified wood
- Critical ecosystem for rare Desert-Parsley only found in Delta and Montrose County, Colorado
- No Crowds!

Help us keep Jumbo Mountain in great shape for public recreation and the wildlife who call it home! 🙌

Please join us in congratulating the participants of the Do Colorado Right Youth Video Contest! We had 40 students from across the West Slope submit fantastic and creative videos demonstrating how to get outside responsibly in our own backyard. Our Grand Prize Winner was Tessa Arnett's STEM class at Delta Middle School! These students will get to go on a raft trip with Colorado Canyon Association.

🔥 Snyder Mesa Fire Update🔥

Due to the Snyder Mesa Fire, McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area and surrounding public lands are currently closed to protect public safety and allow firefighting personnel to safely carry out their work.

We encourage everyone to respect all closures and avoid the area until it is reopened. The trails and canyons will be waiting when conditions are safe again.

Our hearts are with everyone affected by this fire, especially the families, friends, and fellow firefighters mourning the tragic loss of the three individuals who gave their lives while working to protect our communities and public lands. We extend our deepest condolences during this incredibly difficult time.

We also want to express our immense gratitude to the firefighters, incident management teams, first responders, and support crews who continue to work tirelessly under difficult and dangerous conditions. Your courage, dedication, and sacrifice do not go unnoticed.

Please continue to give crews the space they need to do their work, stay informed through official sources ( Colorado Fire), and keep everyone impacted by the fire in your thoughts.

We look forward to the day we can once again welcome everyone back to McInnis Canyons. Until then, thank you for helping keep our public lands—and those protecting them—safe. 💚

You are invited to join WSCC and the USFS — Paonia Ranger District this Friday, June 26 and/or Saturday, June 27 for our annual Trail Days. This year, we'll be doing trail work on Dark Canyon and Ruby Anthracite Trails in the Gunnison National Forest. All ages and abilities are encouraged to join.
