Ziggy Marley George Foundation The Ziggy Marley George Foundation for Cancer Research and Treatment for Pets, Inc. was created in memory of my beloved Bernese Mountain Dog, Ziggy Marley.

The Ziggy Marley George Foundation was created after my beloved Bernese Mountain Dog, Ziggy Marley George, died on September 9, 2016 from cancer when he was only 5 years 4 months and 8 days old. Heartbroken by his loss, I vowed that I would take up the fight against pet cancer and the Foundation was created thereafter. On December 8, 2016 the ZMGF received Tax Exempt Charitable Status under Intern

al Revenue Code Section 501C3. Shortly after that we began to make contributions to the Pet Oncology Departments at the University of Florida in Gainsville and Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. Both facilities were toured and inspected to ascertain whether they would meet the objectives of the Foundation: they did. In April of 2017 we commissioned a logo from renown pet artist Amy Bolin. On May 30, 2017 our website, www.ZiggyMarleyGeorgeFoundation.org went live proudly displaying for the first time our recently commissioned logo. It is our plan to hold fundraisers in every State and to eventually vet all 30 Universities in the United States that have Pet Oncology Departments in order to make contributions to that University closest to the donor base. Our ultimate goal is to assist in the funding of these Universities in their search to find the cause and hence the cure for cancer in our beloved pets.

Tomorrow, February 16, 2019, we head to northern New York State to find a new home for the ZMGF and in which to breed and raise BMDs. We also learned today that we are on the list for a BMD puppy from a litter due to be born in March. Fingers crossed everyone!!

The ZMGF will be moving soon as the house in Florida has been sold and we are looking for a place to live in a more suitable climate in which to raise Bernese Mountain Dogs. Stay tuned....

The ZMGF is going to Austria on October 18th to search for BMD puppies: a boy and a girl. This will be the start of the ZMGF Kennel and the proceeds all puppies sold through it will benefit the foundation and to be used to fund the research to find the cure for pet cancer.

The ZMGF has hit 5000 Friends worldwide on Facebook. Now, in order for us to add more we must drop some. While this is regrettable, since FB sets the limit we must abide by its rules. So unless you accept out invitation to follow us, we will be eliminating named starting on October 1, 2018. Thanks for understanding the predicament that the ZMGF is in.

I cannot thank everyone enough for all the Birthday wishes (over 325) that I received today. It's hard to believe that just 2 days ago, on the 2nd anniversary of Ziggy's death due to cancer, I was feeling blue. Ziggy opened so many doors for me when he was alive and it seems that he is doing so even now. Our pets are a gift and everyday that we get to spend with them is another gift. This is my gift to you: please celebrate my birthday by doing something special with your pet!

Today, September 9, 2018, is the 2nd Anniversary of the death of my beloved Ziggy Marley George. He was more than a handsome Bernese Mountain Dog: he was my most trustworthy and loving companion. This Foundation for Cancer Research and Treatment for Pets was created in his honor. I think of and miss him everyday.

We are pleased to announce that as a result of our participation in this year's Wags & Wine event in Huntington Beach, CA the good folks at Wagging Tails Rescue Foundation donated $1000 to the ZMGF for Pet Cancer Research. Today May 7, 2018 is an important date for pets and pet owners everywhere. Ziggy's case against the oncologist and the animal hospital that misplaced his lab reports and never communicated the treatment plan to me was settled (the proceeds will be placed into the ZMGF bank account) before I finished my opening statement. Rather than try to prove my case solely on malpractice grounds I went after them for breach of contract as well. More important than the settlement was the fact that they finally apologized!!!
The next step for the ZMGF is to get enough people to sign a Petition to change the law NATIONWIDE that considers companion animals to be nothing more than "chattel" - personal property. Our companion animals experience pain and cry when they are hurt, bleed when they are cut, and experience joy when they are happy. And boy do they LOVE!!! They give us love unconditionally and teach us how to love and to be loved. Tell me a piece of luggage (an example of chattel) can do that!
Please donate ASAP to the ZMGF as our fight to end pet cancer by funding Pet Cancer Research and our legal battle to have our pets considered as Companion Animals instead of chattel has just begun!

Preparing Ziggy's case against the oncologist who lost his lab reports has been the hardest case I have ever prepared for and I have been a criminal defense attorney for 26 years handling the most unsavory of characters and facts. The emotions and memories that are coming to the surface are over-whelming and at times I seriously doubt that I can go through this.
If I manage to get through this okay, my crusade against the law that presently only considers pets to be chattel - personal property like a piece of luggage - will begin in earnest as I will become a Pet Advocate. Pets are living breathing beings that experience pain when you hurt them, bleed when they are cut, and cower when they are frightened.
A special prayer is asked for my Ziggy who suffered needlessly the last few days of his life because his oncologist forgot him. But I never will. When my family betrayed and abandoned me you saved me. When my desire to make photographs left me you gave it back to me. May you be resting in peace my son and be waiting for me at the rainbow bridge so that when I pass we can travel, climb mountains and take photographs together again. Amen.
