Fraud Alert for all of our members and residents!

🚨 FRAUD ALERT: New Scam Targeting Local Residents 🚨
The Delray Beach Police Department wants to warn our community about a new fraud trend making the rounds. Scammers are posing as bank representatives or investigators, contacting victims by phone or text, and claiming their accounts have been compromised.
They instruct victims to:
● Withdraw large amounts of cash or purchase gold coins
● Package the items along with their bank cards for pickup
● Stay silent because “their bank is under investigation”

The fraudsters then send Uber drivers or couriers to pick up the packages.
❗ Remember:
1️⃣ Banks will never ask you to withdraw money to be placed into a “safe account.”
2️⃣ Banks will never send an Uber or courier to pick up your cash or cards.
3️⃣ Banks will never call you to ask for your PIN.
4️⃣ If you’re unsure about a call or text, hang up and call the number listed on the back of your card to verify.
Stay alert and share this post with friends and family to help prevent others from becoming victims.

The City of Delray Beach is moving forward with a major investment in coastal resilience and environmental protection through a multi-million-dollar beach nourishment project.

The project, led by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and awarded to Great Lakes Dredge & Dock, will deliver new sand to restore and strengthen the city’s shoreline. Funding comes from multiple sources, including the federal government, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Palm Beach County, as well as the City.

The initiative is supported by the Fiscal 2025 Disaster Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act. A groundbreaking ceremony will take place in mid-December and the project is expected to be completed in early 2026.

The project will replenish eroded areas, restore recreational spaces, and reinforce the city’s natural defenses against storms and rising sea levels. Beyond shoreline protection, it is expected to provide significant economic and environmental benefits, supporting tourism, public recreation, and long-term sustainability.

Delray Beach’s beach nourishment project exemplifies the city’s proactive approach to coastal management and its strong collaboration with state, county, and federal partners to ensure a resilient future for the community.
