I was honored to be witness today to a homecoming celebration like no other. Staff Sergeant Stephen "Johnny" Fatur was brought home to be laid to rest at Twin Valley Cemetery.

Staff Sergeant Fatur was a gunner during a WWII mission and his plane was shot down in Poland. 81 years later his remains have been identified and returned home.

Due to the encouragement of Mayor Dave Weber,
Delmont and surrounding residents were on hand to welcome him home, with a motorcycle es**rt and participating veterans at the graveside.

Delmont Presbyterian Church was well represented with participants, shown in photos.

The Delmont Historical Preservation Society invites residents of the Delmont area, past and present, to stop at our booth tomorrow, August 1st, at Delmont Daze in the Parklet, from 11 to 6.

We're asking for "Letters to Delmont" to be submitted for compilation of a community history book. A list of suggestions for ideas or topics will be available at our booth. We look forward to your favorite memories or recollections of Delmont! Accompanying photos, or copies, are welcome.

The Delmont Historical Preservation Society invites you to visit our booth at Delmont Daze, in the parklet, tomorrow, Saturday, August 1st, from 11-6.

Try your hand at writing your signature with a quill and ink - just like the signers of the Declaration of Independence! Not as easy as it sounds!

We'll have patriotic pinwheels for the kids, and you can purchase raffle tickets for a patriotic quilt and a Yankee Doodle dandy of a stuffed bear!

Tickets will be pulled at the conclusion of the Delmont Apple n Arts Festival.

We had a very enjoyable group this past Saturday, May 23rd, for a Barn Quilt Class at Delmont Library. Being a holiday weekend, we had a smaller than usual group, but still had a good time. It's always interesting to see what designs and colors everyone comes up with!
