8 scouts and 4 adults hiked up Mt. Marcy, the highest peak in New York on Saturday. We went up with mostly good weather, a few sprinkles, but on the way down, it did rain - a lot.
Then by the time we reached the dam, the sun was back out. It took us about 10 hours total, we were on the trail a little after 6am. We made it to the summit at 11am, well some of us made it by 11am, it may have taken a couple of us a few minutes longer.
We were back at camp by 4:30. No injuries, just a few sore muscles but the feelings of accomplishment overpowered those!
We had a couple of leaders stay back at camp and they had a delicious hot meal waiting for us!

Georgia D’s Eagle Scout project includes a bat pollinator garden to support Bethlehem Environmental Commons, whose mission is to promote next-generation farmers, local food systems, conservation, and climate resilient agriculture.‍ Part one of the project just completed was the preparation of the garden. Be-eco executive director Bobbie Lukasaweicz was on site and gave everyone a guided tour of Old Heath Farm where the project is located, which was built in the Civil War era. We were able to use no till “lasagna” garden method to create the bed and preserve the soil health with cardboard and mulch. Generous grant from Bethlehem Garden Club and donations from Robinsons Hardware, Lowe’s, Wild Things native plant rescue, and Hewitt’s helped make it possible. Next week we will be planting native plants and then will be installing bat houses to replace the shelter that they previously had in the now closed up historic Heath Farm barn.

Congrats to the Troop 75 members who joined Kittan Lodge at Camp Wakpominee this past weekend.

Congratulations to Logan D. for completing his Eagle project, a Gaga ball pit at Bethlehem Middle School. Troop 75 showed up to help Friday night to help pick up the lumber, load the trailer at Lowes, then bring it to the school.

Then Saturday was the build. Scouts were there to help with the measurements, screws , sanding, and everything that was needed. It became a race against the rain, and eventually the rain won, but the scouts didn’t give up, they stayed until they finished everything they could.

Logan, his dad, and grandfather went back to do the finishing touches on Monday and now it’s up to the school to open it up to the kids.

Troop 75 marched in the Delmar Memorial Day Parade. It was great to see so many people on the route!
We love saying hi to everyone and gently handing out candy.
A big thanks to Mother Nature for stopping the rain in time for the parade, but being Scouts, we would have marched in the rain.

A Scout is clean…except today. A big thank you to Reagan, Mac, Benji, Henry, Dave, Mike and Josh for sorting a massive amount of donated bottles to keep them out of the waste stream and raise funds for Troop activities. Pizza lunch at Romo’s post sorting to recognize all of their hard work.

Our Scouts and Cub Scouts from Pack 232, showed their respect by placing American Flags on veteran’s graves at Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, in honor of Memorial Day.

Welcome to Troop 75, Trent and Leo!

Congratulations to all those from Pack 23 who earned and were awarded the Arrow of light and crossed over to Scouts BSA. Troop 75 and Troop 58 were happy to welcome a wonderful group of scouts and their families to continue their scouting journey.

Scouting has such strong roots in town, and it takes so many working together to keep this momentum going. It was so nice to see the joy and to feel the positive energy from Pack 23.
